The word Metamorphosis drives from the greek μεταμόρφωσις, “transformation, transforming” Metamorphosis is a biological process by which an animal physically develops after birth or hatching, in-volving a conspicuous and relatively abrupt change in the animal’s body structure through cell growth and differentiation.References to “metamorphosis” in mammals are im-precise and only colloquial, but historically idealist ideas of transformation and monadology, as in Goe-the’s Metamorphosis of Plants, influenced the devel-opment of ideas of evolution.
