red box. First, I opened the green box. It was Lego. Then, I opened the red box.

It was a robot.

We are primary 2A students studying at APSSS. Fanling is our lovely

home. We love it very much. We mustn’t eat or drink on the MTR. We mustn’t

Dear Hong Kong people,

I live in Hong Kong. Let’s take care of Hong Kong. Let’s keep Hong Kong

clean. Don’t throw rubbish. You must put the rubbish in the bin. We must

recycle bottles, paper and cans. Please bring your own bags! You must not use

too many plastics bags. We must save paper. We must live a green life because

we love Hong Kong!

My Day

Every day, I get out of bed at seven o’clock in the morning. I wash my face

and brush my teeth at half past seven. Then, I go to school by bus. I have

lessons in the morning. After that, I have lunch at one o’clock in the afternoon.

I do my homework at half past six in the evening. I have my dinner at seven

o’clock. I go to bed at eight o’clock at night. I have a wonderful day!

Cinderella

Cinderella is eleven years old. She is slim and of medium height. She has a

round face and small round eyes. She has short, curly hair. Sometimes, she

wears a hair clip and wears a hair accessory.

Last Christmas, she went to Ocean Park. She had a Christmas party with

her grandpa, grandma, cousins, uncles, aunt, elder sister, elder brother, younger

sister and younger brother. She felt great.

Elsa

Elsa is short and fat. She likes to eat candies and chocolate. She likes to stay

at home and likes to watch TV.

Last week, it was rainy. Elsa was hot and she turned on the air-conditioner.

She stayed at home with her friend. She watched TV with her friend. She felt

comfortable!

Chinese New Year

Dear Jenny,

How are you? It was wonderful last Chinese New Year. Before Chinese

New Year, I went to the flower market in Sheung Shui. I went there with my

family. We saw a lot of pretty flowers. The next day, we went to visit our

relatives. I got sixty red packets. I was very pleased with it! We also ate a lot of

yummy food such as chocolates and fruit.

What did you eat last Chinese New Year? How many relatives did you

visit? How many red packets did you get? What is your wonderful Chinese

New Year?

Going to Ocean Park

My family and I want to go on a trip this Saturday. We want to go to Ocean

Park by car. There are a lot of fish, some dolphins and two pandas. They are

beautiful.

We want to watch the dolphin show. The dolphins are very smart. I want to

play on the rides. They are very exciting!! Mum and Dad want to see the fish.

My sister wants to see the fish too. My sister wants to see the jellyfish there.

All of us will have a lovely day.

A Day with My Grandparents

This morning, my mother, sister and I visited my grandparents. We went to

their big and beautiful house. We said ‘Hello” to them.

They were watching a TV programme called ‘A Poor Cat’. They said, “It

was funny.’ My grandmother read me and my sister a story about cats and

dogs.

For lunch, we went to a restaurant called Ti Tian because the food there is

very delicious. I had roast chicken with rice. My sister only had some

sandwiches for lunch because she was not hungry. After lunch, we went

shopping. My sister and I bought new clothes and shoes. My mother bought a

new handbag. Her old one was too old. Then, we found a café to have our tea.

We all had a very meaningful day. We will meet up next week. Can’t wait

to see them again!

A Day with My Grandparents

Yesterday was Christmas Day. My parents, sister and I went to my

grandparent’s home in Tai Po, by minibus. When we had dinner with my

grandparents, someone suddenly knocked at the door. When my grandfather

opened the door, all of us felt very surprised because my uncle came back from

the UK. My uncle brought a fruit cake and some presents for us. We ate the

cake together and said ‘Merry Christmas’ to my grandparents.

We all had a wonderful time at this Christmas party. I did not want to go

home because I missed my handsome uncle and grandparents very much.

Finally, I gave a goodbye-kiss to my grandparents before I left.

A Day with My Grandparents

Last Saturday, I went to visit my grandpa and grandma with my dad, mum,

sister and brother. We went to Lantau Island by bus.

We went to my grandparents’ home. I played with them. We played ball

games and UNO. After that, we went to the park. Grandpa and Grandma played

on the swing with me. Dad and Mum looked at us. We were happy. After we

played in the park, we felt hungry. Grandpa and Grandma took us to a

restaurant. We ate noodles and dumplings for lunch.

When we were leaving, Grandpa and Grandma said, ‘Visit us more often!

We will miss you!’ After I heard that, I knew that I had to come here more

often so that we could spend more time with them.

A Day with My Grandparents

This morning, I went to Tai Po with my mum and sister to visit my

grandparents. I felt great because I did not see them for a long time.

We went there by MTR. We ate a yummy breakfast at their home. Then,

Mum gave a special gift to Grandma. My sister cooked some food for Grandpa

by herself. They felt wonderful. The special time came. I took out some cards

and did a magic show. Everyone felt amazed. After that, I swept the floor in the

house. Mum tidied things in the house and my sister swept the floor with me

too. One hour later, we went home. We just gave a perfect gift to our

grandparents. It was love. I’ll never forget this great time!

Birthday Resolutions

Today is my birthday. I am 10 years old now. I am a big boy so I am going

to write some resolutions.

I am not happy about my health. I am always sick and too thin. I need to

sleep early and eat more meat. I won’t be sick or thin.

My teachers give too much homework. I am not happy about my school life

either. I need to work hard. Then, I will finish homework faster.

My mum always says that my room is very messy. I am going to tidy my

room twice a week. Then, my room will be tidy.

My family says that I am always rude. I am not happy about that. I am

going to calm down. Then, I will be patient.

From this day onwards, I want to be a very tidy girl.

Birthday Resolutions

Today is my birthday. I am 10 years old now. I am a big girl so I am going

to write some resolutions. I am not happy about my health because I always get

sick. I am going to do more exercise. I will be strong and healthy. I don’t have

any close friends. I ought to chat with friends. I ought to say kind words to my

friends. I will have many friends.

I often fail my English exam. I should keep a diary every day. I will pass

my exam. I am lazy. I am going to sweep the floor three times a week. I will be

a good daughter.

I am not happy about my exam. I fail my Maths exam. I ought to study hard

every night. I will pass Maths exam. I think I will start tonight.

Fun Fun Toy Shop

Last Sunday was David’s birthday. David and his mum went to Fun Fun Toy

Shop. When they arrived at the shop, they felt so surprised because there was a

big sale and the toys were cheap. A robot was only sixty dollars!

There were different kinds of toys. David liked the robots very much because

they were so cute. Then, David took a robot from the shelf and played with it.

He wanted to buy it and took it home. He felt great!

Suddenly, David carelessly dropped the robot onto the floor and it was

broken. He was so scared.

At the end, David’s mum bought the broken robot and David fixed the robot

at home. They felt wonderful!

My Resolutions

27th May Sunny

Today is my birthday. I am ten years old now. I am a big boy so I am going

to write about my resolutions.

I am not happy about my health. I am overweight and I always eat junk

food. I am going to do sports three times a week and eat more vegetables every

day. I will be strong, fit and healthy.

I am disappointed with my school life. I am late for school and failed my

Maths exams. I’m going to set the alarm clock and study more. I’m going to do

Maths exercises every day. I won’t be late for school and will have good exam

results.

I do not help at home. My room is messy and washroom is smelly. I ought

to tidy the room once a week and clean the washroom twice a week. I will find

my books and my washroom won’t be smelly. It will be clean. I will be

punctual. I won’t be late for appointments. I ought to set the alarm clock. My

friends will be happy and I can make more friends.

I hope my plans will work.

Ken’s Friend

Ken likes going jogging. He always goes jogging. He usually goes to the

park. He sometimes goes to the beach.

One day, he went jogging in the park. Suddenly, he saw a hungry dog under

a bench. Then, Ken went to a store to buy some sandwiches for the hungry dog.

The dog loved the sandwiches very much. The dog felt great.

The next day, Ken went jogging. He saw the dog again. The dog felt

excited when it saw Ken again. Ken also felt great when he saw the dog.

Finally, he took the dog home and kept it. Ken’s mum and dad liked the dog

very much. Ken always went jogging with the dog. Ken called it Dan. Ken

liked its name. They felt great and excited.

A Plan for a Three-day-trip to Hong Kong

Dear Ben,

How are you? I am happy to hear that you will go to Hong Kong for a holiday. I

have some suggestions for your trip to Hong Kong.

On the first morning, we will go to Hong Kong Disneyland. First, we will take

the boat trip. Then, we will play games at Disneyland and watch the Lion King

show. In the afternoon, we will have lunch in the restaurant at Disneyland. Next, we

will buy some souvenirs in the Disneyland shops. After that, we will take photos

there too. At night, we will watch the beautiful fireworks in Disneyland.

On the second morning, we will go to The Peak. We can see the views of Hong

Kong and take photos at The Peak. In the afternoon, we will have lunch at The Peak.

Then, we will visit Madame Tussauds and take photos. After that we can buy some

souvenirs. At night, we will eat dinner at The Peak.

On the third morning, we will go to Cheung Chau. First, we will go swimming.

Then, we will take photos and buy souvenirs. In the afternoon, we will have lunch

on Cheung Chau. Then, we will go to Stanley, we will go shopping there and buy

souvenirs. After that, we will take photos. At night, we will eat dinner there. What

do you think about my plan? Please write back soon.

A Bad Barbecue Experience

Last Saturday, I had a barbecue with my family. The weather was great that

day so we went to the countryside to have a barbecue. We prepared a lot of

food like bread, corn, chicken wings, fish balls… Then, we found a barbecue

site and we settled down there.

After that, we started cooking the food. Suddenly, a stray dog walked

towards us and took Mum’s handbag. There were many things inside the

handbag.

Next, the dog stole Mum’s handbag and went away. Mum said, ‘Give it

back to me, please!’ Dad said, ‘Don’t run away!’ However, the dog didn’t care

and just ran away.

Mum ran after the dog and the dog disappeared in the bushes. Suddenly, a

light came from the sky. Then, a strange creature flew down from the sky. This

creature had a human body and a dog head. It was so funny.

The Dogman said, ‘I am the dog who took your handbag!’ Mum said, ‘Oh!

I see!’ The Dogman asked, ‘Do you think I am strange?’ ‘Of course! By the

way, what are you doing on the Earth?’ asked Mum. ‘I came to the Earth to

help you because you take care of your family a lot!’ said the Dogman.

‘I can give you one wish. What do you want?’ asked the Dogman. ‘I want a

lot of money!’ said Mum happily. The Dogman said angrily, ‘You are so

greedy! I will not give you any money!’ After that, the Dogman flew away with

Mum’s handbag. Mum was upset.

This incident let us know we should not be greedy. Or else we will lose a

lot of things.

A Bad Barbecue Experience

Last Saturday, I had a barbecue with my family. We went there by minibus.

We found a barbecue site.

First, Mum and I prepared the food. We bought some fish balls, sausages,

chicken wings, corn and beef.

Next, we used the barbecue forks to cook the food. We cooked happily. We

were having a barbecue while a stray dog was walking towards us. Suddenly,

the stray dog took away Mum’s handbag. Mum said, ‘Oh no! My handbag!’ We

felt scared.

After that, Dad chased the dog. Although Dad took back the handbag, it

was broken.

After having this barbecue experience, I know that we should look after our

belongings more carefully.

An Unforgettable Day at Water World

Last week was my birthday. I went to Water World with my family. It was

sunny. We felt so excited.

In the afternoon, I was playing in the pool while my dad was carrying his

noodles to a table. He was careless. He burnt himself when he was carrying his

noodles. ‘Oh!’ Dad said. I asked, ‘Dad, are you OK?’ Dad replied, ‘It’s OK,

don’t worry!’ I said, ‘Oh, the noodles dropped on the floor. Let’s buy it again!’

Next, I wanted to go to the Dragon Slides. I wore my goggles and was

going to the Dragon Slides quickly. ‘Bang!’ I banged my head when I was

wearing my goggles. ‘Oh! It is an unlucky day for us!’ I said. I worried I would

get hurt again so I went there slowly.

After that, I was sunbathing while a baby was crawling on the floor. I

thought he wanted to see the Life Ring. It was so cute! However, it was so

dangerous. I saw his mother talking with her friend on her phone. She didn’t

know her baby was crawling and wanted to see the Life Ring.

Suddenly, ‘Splash!’ The baby fell into the swimming pool! I felt worried.

Many people felt worried too! Some people tried to help him. Me too! Finally,

I helped the baby go back to his mother. She said, ‘Thank you! You are so

brave. You saved my son!’ I replied, ‘It’s so dangerous. Please take care of your

son next time!’ She replied, ‘OK, I will.’

In the end, my parents said, ‘You are so brave! You are a good girl!’ I felt

so excited. I said, ‘Although I think today is unlucky, there is still something

good!’

5B Shum Yue Cheung

English Study Tour

Where would you like to go for an English study tour? Shall we go to

London? It is the capital of England. The weather is cooler than Hong Kong in

July and August. The British can speak English well and there are a lot of

museums and galleries about art. It is a wonderful place for sightseeing and

learning English at the same time.

We can do many different things in London. Visiting the Natural History

Museum is a very meaningful activity. We can see a life-sized blue whale and a

40 million years old spider. We can also see the beautiful Central Hall. You will

enjoy it.

What else can we do? Visiting the London Science Museum is another

interesting activity. We can touch and experience the major scientific advances

of the last 300 years. We can also go to the awesome Imax cinema. That’s

great!

Moreover, going to the Ferens Art Gallery is a wonderful idea. You can see

the collections of marine paintings. We are children, we can go to the

Children’s Gallery. It must be fun.

London is really the best place for an English study tour about art and

history. I hope I can have the chance to join it with you!

Fun with Study Tours

Where would you like to go for an English study tour? Shall we go to Great

Britain? The people there are British so we have to speak English. During the

trip, we will stay at a hotel in London.

It will be very hot there. We have to bring thin clothes. The theme of this

study tour is Art. Therefore, you have to bring colour pencils and a sketch

book.

First, we can go to Piccadilly Circus. We can watch exciting shows there.

After the show, we can buy some beautiful souvenirs happily. Next, we can

ride on the giant London Eye. It is a famous landmark in London. You can also

look at the view from the sky. You can even take photos of the beautiful

scenery. It will be an enjoyable ride. Finally, we can visit museums. We can

watch lovely pictures and learn about history.

Learning English is fun. You can join this study tour. Don’t miss the

chance!

5C Chau Ho Tin

Study Tour

Where would you like to go for an English study tour? Shall we go to

Manchester in England? Everyone knows that British people speak English so

you can speak English there.

The weather in England is almost the same as in Hong Kong. So it is hot

and you should bring sun cream and sunglasses.

You can go to a stadium and watch a match. Maybe you can watch

Barclays Premier League. You can also play a football match.

You can visit a football club such as Manchester United and Manchester

City. Beware of the football hooliganism. You can also see football stars such

as Rooney, Gerrard and Aguero.

You can play football. You can also learn football skills in English such as

step-over, heel flick and fake shoot.

Learning English can be fun. Why don’t you join this?

6A So Wai Lam Kelly

My Unforgettable Experience

I had a most unforgettable experience last month. When my uncle married

my aunt in a hotel. Witnessing the couple’s marriage was a meaningful

experience.

This was my first time to attend a wedding ceremony. I was very nervous

and excited about it. We arrived at my grandfather’s home in the morning. Then,

we helped the bride to put on the red dress. The bride and the bridegroom offered

tea to my family. They all looked very glad and gave them red packets. In the

afternoon, we arrived at the hotel in Sha Tin. They were so busy so I did not

disturb them. At night all guests arrived before the wedding started.

In the end, we all said ‘Congratulations’ to them with a smile. It was a good

start of the new year. I hope I can attend other wedding ceremonies again. I will

never forget this day. Attending a wedding is a meaningful and unforgettable

experience.

How to Live a Green Life

Hong Kong is our home but we have created a lot of environmental problems.

One day, Hong Kong won't be a suitable home for us unless we all start living a

green life.

Using too much energy badly affects our daily life. For example, we do

not turn off lights and other electrical appliances when we are not using them.

There will not be enough energy unless we save energy. We should use energy-

saving home appliances and light bulbs. We should also set the temperature of

air-conditioners at 25.5℃.

We use so many plastic bags when we go shopping. There will be a lot of

rubbish unless we bring our own bags. We could bring our own bags or reuse

plastic bags when we shop. We also waste a lot of paper. More trees will be cut

down unless we use less paper. We could write on both sides and use recycled

paper. There are so many private cars on the road. This creates more air pollution.

We could take more public transport.

Sometimes we use a lot of disposable cutlery during parties or eating take-

away food. We could use our own cutlery. Sometimes we also leave the tap on

while we are brushing our teeth. That wastes a lot of water. We could switch off

the tap while we are brushing our teeth.

I hope my ideas can help you to live a green life and let you know how to

protect the environment. Let’s make Hong Kong a better place!

6B Pang Hoi Ling

How to Live a Green Life

Hong Kong is our home but we have created a lot of environmental problems.

One day, Hong Kong won't be a suitable home for us unless we all start living a

green life.

Using too much energy badly affects our daily life. For example, we do not

turn off lights and other electrical appliances when we are not using them. There

will not be enough energy unless we save energy. We should use energy-saving

home appliances and light bulbs. We should also set the temperature of air-

conditioners at 25.5℃.

Land pollution is serious in Hong Kong. We wasted two thousand six

hundred and sixty tones each day in 2008. The landfill will be full unless we

reduce, recycle and reuse things. We could reuse envelopes. We could also

recycle glass bottles to make Eco-blocks.

Hong Kong is famous for its night scenery. Therefore, Hong Kong is called

the ‘Oriental Pearl’ but it causes light pollution. People always switch on the

lights all day. It is difficult for people to fall asleep. People can’t sleep anymore

unless we turn off the lights in office buildings after working hours.

We should give a helping hand to protect our environment. In the future, we

will have a more wonderful and beautiful ‘Oriental Pearl’!

My Most Unforgettable Experience

Everyone has his own unforgettable experience so I also have my

unforgettable experience. My most unforgettable experience was travelling to

Australia.

I went to Australia last year. The most unforgettable thing was staying with

my host family. My host family was Cindy and Kelvin. It was a very joyful and

wonderful experience.

On the first day, I was very scared of speaking English with my host family.

Then, they asked me about my life in Hong Kong. From the second to the

seventh day, I talked with my host family in English. They made yummy meals

for me. At lunch, I just ate sandwiches. It was very different from Hong Kong

but I enjoyed it a lot. On the last day, I hugged them. I thanked them a lot for

taking care of me.

I felt perfect about this experience. I was very proud of myself too. I have

learnt how to take care of myself!

6C Tang Hang Yi Hidy

My Dream Job

I want to be a scientist when I grow up. Do you know why? Let me tell

you.

I like doing experiments because it is fun. I can learn about science if I

become a scientist. I will invent a lot of interesting things such as a ‘homework

checking machine’ or ‘tooth paste chewing gum’! Doing experiments is

really fun but it is dangerous too! I need to be careful so that my laboratory

will not get burnt. I hope my invention will help others and contribute to

society.

From now on, I will study hard, especially in science. I will be a creative

scientist one day. Maybe you will see me on TV in the future if I get the Nobel

Prize!

My Most Unforgettable Experience

I had my most unforgettable experience when I was nine years old. My

parents and I had a trip to Taipei. We stayed there for five days. I got lost in

Taipei. It was an awful experience.

We went to a local market to buy some special and cheap souvenirs. When I

was walking, I found out that I lost my way. My parents and I were on different

streets. I was worried about it. I yelled, ‘Dad, where are you? Mum, where

are you?’ A stranger asked me, ‘May I help you?’ I just smiled and walked away

from him. I sat down and started crying. A lot of people noticed me but they

just walked away. Suddenly, someone patted my head. It was my Dad! I hugged

him tightly at once. It was awesome.

I was filled with remorse because I did not follow my parents. I learnt that I

must follow my parents. I must not walk away by myself.
