This book serves as a guide to the diagnosis andtreatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension(PAH). This update to 2005 now has GeoffStrange, an expert in the field, as a coauthor withSimon Stewart.
Purpose
The aim of this book is to introduce healthcareproviders in the community to the importance ofdetecting potentially hidden pulmonary hyperten-sion and subsequently referring affected patientsfor treatment.
Audience
This book targets physicians in training, primarycare providers, and subspecialists in pulmonaryand cardiovascular diseases.
Features
The first of the six chapters is an introduction thatgives an overview of PAH and outlines the aims ofthe book, while chapter two discusses the back-ground and epidemiology. Chapters three and fourdeal with pathophysiology and clinical diagnosis,respectively. Chapter five discusses outcomes andtreatment strategies for PAH, and chapter sixexamines screening and management. The graphsand tables are easy to comprehend and comple-mented by succinct captions. The informationboxes in each chapter are a strength of this book.

The authors meet their objectives with this bookthat offers an excellent guide to the evaluation andtreatment of patients with PAH.
