A CHRONICLE OF CRAFT BREWING

Founded in 1986,the Abita Brewing Company is nestled in the piney woods 30 miles north of

New Orleans. In its first year, the brewery produced 1,500 barrels of beer. We

had no idea what we started. Customers loved our beer! By 1994, we outgrew

the original site (now our 100-seat brew pub) and moved up the road to a

larger facility to keep up with demand. Today, we brew over 125,000 barrels

of beer and 6,000 barrels of root beer in our state-of-the-art brewing facility.

Our lagers and ales are brewed in small batches, hand-crafted by a team of dedicated workers with only the highest ideals

of quality. This pride, along with our brewing process, is what creates our

great brews. We are privately owned and operated by local shareholders,

many who have been with us since day one.

Abita uses only the finest ingredients –British and North American malted barley, German and American yeast

strains, Pacific Northwest hops and the pure artesian water of Abita

Springs. In Abita, we are blessed with the purest of water. Drawn from our

deep wells, our pristine water is not altered in any way.

Abita Beer has no preservatives, additives or stabilizers and is cold filtered. The result is beer that is the

finest and freshest tasting as proven by our loyal customers and great chefs

of the South who use Abita Beer in their recipes.

We’re proud of our brewery and the beers we make. Each brew is hand-

crafted for your enjoyment with a passion for flavor and fun.

past abita select brews

ABITA sELECT BREWsAbita Select is an exclusive premium draft product line featuring a new style every few months. These specialty brews can be found only on tap, and only at certain restaurants and bars. Each Abita Select begins as a blank canvas for the brewers and allows them to experiment with new and different styles of beer. The wide variety of styles created displays the creativity and love of brewing that is at the heart of every Abita Beer.

ABITA ROOT BEERAbita Root Beer is brewed to accentuate the traditional herbal flavors found in American root beers of the 1940s and 1950s. We’ve added a touch of vanilla for creaminess and a pinch of yucca to produce a lacy collar of foam. Our root beer is made with pure Louisiana cane sugar to create a taste that’s Louisiana True®. Hot brewing the old-fashioned way caramelizes the sugar and gives Abita Root Beer a full bodied taste.
