Knights Ferry Boutique is located in the historic Miller’s Hall in Knights Ferry. The owners are a unique mother, daughter team. Pamela Fondse and Wendi Eaton have been crafting for over 20 years and have loved every minute of it. This 2-year-old business has a great mix of handcrafted, vintage and collectible items.
Knights Ferry Boutique carries a wide variety of gifts you won’t find elsewhere. There are collectibles, shabby chic dishes, handcrafted ceramic pottery, jew-elry, jackets and great kitchen gifts. They have a great collection of books about Knights Ferry, hand painted gift cards from a local artist. They even carry wonder-ful walking sticks carved by a local craftsman. They are open weekends and early the first Sunday of each month for the IOOF Pancake Breakfast.

The Oakdale Chamber of Commerce and the City of Oakdale offices will be closed Dec. 25.
The Chamber will be emphasiz-ing and promoting an important business slogan over the next few months; Buy Oakdale – Be-cause It Mat-ters! Never be-fore has that mantra been as important as it is today. While our lo-cal businesses view the local shopper as a bread and butter staple of their business we need to be clear; the
local businesses are a bread and butter staple for the support of our way of life in our commu-nity.
One percent of all sales tax generated in Oakdale stays in Oakdale. Every item bought in Oakdale helps pay for police, fire, parks, recreation programs, Senior Center, etc. All the things that help make Oakdale a great place to live.
Think about all the businesses that support your kids’ candy drives, cookie sales, Little League sponsorships, soccer, and foot-ball events. Without that business
support our community would not be what it is today, a great place to live, work, and bring up a family. If I had a choice of making Modesto or Oakdale a great place to live based on where I shopped, I choose to shop in Oakdale.
Because I am an engineer I am burdened with the curse of logi-cal thinking, it stinks sometimes but follow me on this issue. The AAA Club says it costs today’s car owner $0.55 per mile to drive a car. It’s 12 miles to Modesto. That travel alone puts an out-of-pock-et expense of $13.20 onto any-thing you buy in Modesto. I don’t
know about you but, I have two kids, a wife and chores and er-rands up the gazoo and my time is valuable and precious. Even at minimum wage, an hour driv-ing back and forth to Modesto is at least valued at $8 in lost time. So there you have it: if you shop in Modesto, you’re out of pocket and time lost expense is over $21. So ask yourself before you get in that car and burst off to Modesto, could I have saved that $21 by shopping in Oakdale.
So for everyone who is cost and time conscious, it really does matter…Buy in Oakdale.

Join the Oakdale Chamber in Oakdale Leadership 2010. This program will give participants an overview of the various in-ner workings of business, gov-ernment, agriculture, health services, education, social/cul-tural, and communication in our area. The purpose is to give potential leaders a well-round-ed educational and networking experience through a process that will identify and help de-
velop informed, civic-oriented leaders who will help direct the future of Oakdale.
Tuition for each participant in the Oakdale Leadership Pro-gram is $500.
Oakdale Leadership Program requires full participation and attendance, and runs from Jan-uary through October, with a graduation program at the An-nual Dinner the following Jan-uary. The Oakdale Leadership
Program focuses on develop-ing and enhancing leadership skills and provides exposure to a wide range of community subjects. Time commitment is one day per month.
“Being part of the 2008 Lead-ership Oakdale program was a unique opportunity to expand my knowledge of local history, local government, local busi-ness, local events, community outreach programs and last but
not least, it provided a great networking opportunity with community leaders,” said John B. Davids, P.E. District Engineer, Oakdale Irrigation District.
If you or one of your staff would like to participate in this program contact the Oakdale Chamber 847-2244. We will forward you an application. All applications are due in the Chamber office by Nov. 30 for review.
