6.15-19enquiry-A Russian musician named

Mussorgsky looked at a

friend’s drawings, then

composed music based

on the pictures. Can you think of a picture that

reminds you of a song? Or-

flip it around- can you think of a song that reminds you of

a certain picture?

evoke- your record jacketexplore- Imagine a collection of your favorite 12 songs. At one time, that was about all that fit on the “music holder” of the time- the LP (long-playing) record. Album art was (and still is, to a lesser degree) an art form all in itself. What if you made a record? What songs would be on it? What would the album art look like? Using the piece of cardstock (blue or red) from your “desk cleanout bag” you picked up from school Monday or Tuesday, create your record jacket. Please use art,

What are your “summer”

songs? These are songs that may have the

word “summer” in them, or they may just be “ the songs we

play as we start our summer

break”. What makes them unique and

5.11-15:The short story below has some words that are made completely from letters in the musical alphabet. Using filled noteheads only, please spell the “musical” words from the story.

Georgia, Paul, Joanne, and Ringo got up early one morning and each ate an egg, toast, and fruit for breakfast. They said goodbye to their Dad and Mom. Mom said to take a coat in case the weather turned bad. Their father told them that he would be their cab driver to start their day. First, they went

to see a leopard in a cage at the zoo. They also bought some corn to feed the wild birds. Feeling hungry, they then walked to a café for lunch. Ringo and Georgia had roast beef sandwiches, and Joanne and Paul had chicken tacos. Just down the street from their lunch spot was a farmer’s market, where the four saw carrots, lettuce, cabbage, and tomatoes being sold. They bought some produce from a farmer, who kindly put their vegetables in a bag for them to carry. They walked six blocks to the movie theater, where they didn’t have to pay the adult price because they were all under the age of 18. After the movie, they walked along the waterfront and watched the daylight fade. They weren’t sure which bus to take home, but a police officer wearing a badge was able to help them figure it out. When they got home, their parents could see that they all had a good time by the smile on each child’s face.
