“People are made of the same stuff as stars. If you knew my Mom that made a lot of sense because she shone really, really bright.” Alex Clark, 2020 The sky is a little brighter now that Sue has gone to heaven.

SUSAN (BLAUCH) CLARK of Peters Township, age 59; passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, April 08, 2020, after a courageous battle with cancer. Beloved wife of 27 years to Jerry Clark; loving mother of Alex and A.J. Clark; daughter of David and Jean Blauch; sister of Scott Blauch, survived and loved by too many family and friends to name. Sue was born on the east side of Pittsburgh, moved to Reading when young, but came to Bethel Park in her middle years and always considered herself a Bethel gal. She graduated from IUP, then after a short time in Philadelphia went on to work at a couple of benefits companies in Pittsburgh. Sue and Jerry met in January 1990, fell immediately in love, and were married September 5, 1992. In 1994 Alex was born (10 pounds 14 ounces). In 1996 AJ followed (much smaller at 10 pounds 4 ounces). Sue became a full time mom when they were young, and found her true calling. Sue made lists for everything – classes, homework, sports, meals, shopping, doctors, bills, you name it. She was a planner, and raised 2 very special boys by following her plan. Both are kind, courteous, and full of generosity just like their “Madre” (as AJ used to call her). They inherited her “infectious smile” as one person put it. After honeymooning in Disney Sue became infatuated with Mickey Mouse and traveling. She and Jerry went on hundreds of vacations over the next 3 decades. They made it to all 50 states, including several trips to Hawaii, cruises both big and small (10 people) in the Caribbean, a trip to Austria, and a tour of Italy for their 25th anniversary. She always aimed towards beaches, and of course flip flops became her trademark 10 years ago or so. She also loved photography and took thousands and thousands of pictures. Sue enjoyed playing games and for many years the family had weekly game nights. As the boys grew older she got extremely involved in PTA, band, sports, and other activities. At John McMillan Presbyterian Church she served as a church elder, acted as financial secretary, played in the bell choir, helped with the craft show, taught Vacation Bible School, and was involved in just about everything. Later, as life began to settle down a bit Sue joined “book” clubs and took up crafting. She took over the basement and became an expert at making and fixing jewelry, painting and etching glass, and designing stickers using the Cricut machine. And buying supplies on Amazon and Wayfair. In 2016 Sue and Jerry discovered Carolina Beach and made it their home away from home. She loved the beach, the pelicans, sunrises, sunsets, sand, and shells. And she could buy more flip flops for her feet, the wall, as oven mitts, and on and on. Sue loved her boys with everything she had, and was additionally blessed with the ability to make friends easily. She built a circle of friends in high school that remained close over the years. Through college, work, school, church, tennis, and other activities dozens of people eventually considered her a close friend. A good friend of hers said it this way:

“Sue wasn’t family & unfortunately I didn’t get to know her long or as well as I would have liked. But with some people you don’t need to spend much time with them to feel their presence, their vibrance, and their realness and goodness. Some people have a smile, laugh, zest for life, and big heart that makes you feel and you know they’re something special...and you want to be around them. This person was one of those.”

In lieu of flowers please make donations in her memory to either The American Cancer Society or The Endowment Fund at John McMillan Presbyterian Church.
