Doc, for my gift to you, a Cassbert story! Yes, Gil is blond in this. It's his natural color so I changed it back. I hope you enjoy this short little silliness.

“Cassidy. Cassidy wake up.”“Hmm, just a few more minutes?”“Sorry, love, but the kids are coming over today remember?”

“Oh yeah, Max and Spider are letting us baby-sit!”“Yep, and you have to be on your toes with Tiss and Maxie.”“You have to be on your toes for any kids, Gil.”“I guess so.”

“Well, I'll jump in the shower while you make the bed then.”“Sounds good, I'll be in to mop up the puddles when I'm done here.”“You don't have to, Cass.”“I know, and that makes me want to.”“Love you too.”

An hour later, showered and dressed, Gil and Cass came out to wait for their nieces.“Here they come!” Gil said catching sight of them as he came out the door.“On my way.”

The girls ran full out toward their uncles. Tiss in front with Maxine not far behind.“If we could somehow harness some of that.” Gil mused.“We could run the bakery for a year on one morning alone.” Cass finished.

“Hurry, Maxie! They're waiting on us!”“I'm hurrying, Tiss, but I'm wearing a skirt!”“Why did you wear a dress then? You don't have to.”“But I like them!”“Maybe Daddy will give us wings like he has, then we can fly.”“Can we? I've never seen Daddy fly before.”“They're wings, Maxie, duh.”

“Hi, Maxie, how are you?”“I'm fine, uncle Cass.”“Hi, Tess. How are you?”“I'm great, Uncle Gil. Swing me!”“Swing you, huh? So demanding”“Er, please?”“Sure thing.”

“Wheee!”

“Shall we dance, princess Maxine?”“Certainly, Lord Cassidy!”

A little later they sat down to watch a movie.“Where's Tiss, doesn't she want to watch?”“Oh no, she said she's seen this one a hundred times. She's gone up to talk with Grandma Denise.

Page 12: A Cassbert Story for Doc

“Grandma Denise?”“Yes, dear?”“Watcha doin'?”“Telling Lisa Ramirez to start her own checking account.”“Oh.”“Did you want anything?”“I thought maybe we could play.”

Page 13: A Cassbert Story for Doc

“Of course we can.”

After the movie they sat down for lunch.“Uncle Gil?”“Yeah, Maxie?”“Why don't you and Uncle Cass have kids?”

“Maybe they don't wanna have kids, Maxie.”“It's not ...” Cass started to explain before he realized he wasn't quite sure just exactly how.“It's not something we've thought about yet, Maxie, but maybe one day.”“Good, I want cousins.”“You have cousins, Maxie.”“I mean ones our age. Our other cousins are too old.”Cass chuckled and decided not to remind her that any kids they had now would be too young.

A few hours later, the girls were rushing out and hugging their fathers.

“Did you behave yourselves?”“Of course, Papa!”“Good.”“Daddy, Daddy, can I have wings like yours? Can I? Can I?”“We'll talk about it when we get home, Tiss.”“Okay!”

Page 19: A Cassbert Story for Doc

“Hi Cass.”“Hey Spider.”“Take very good care of yourself right now, do you hear me?”“I thought I was taking good care of myself now.”“You are, I just meant be extra good to yourself for a while that's all.”“Uh, okay.”

After all the goodbyes, Cass and Gil went back upstairs to their room. Gil had just sat down at the computer when he heard retching noises from their bathroom.“Cass, are you all right?”

Page 21: A Cassbert Story for Doc

He tried to answer, but it's a bit hard to talk around your dinner.

Page 22: A Cassbert Story for Doc

Cass came out just as Gil approached the door.“I'm all right. Maybe I just got some bad pickles or something.”“Yeah none of the rest of us ate them.”

Page 23: A Cassbert Story for Doc

“Oh yeah, definitely the pickles,” Gil laughed as he rubbed the baby bump.“Does that mean if it's a boy we have to call him, Dill?” Cass asked with a smile.

Doc, I hope you liked this! And just so you know, I checked, they're expecting natural twins. Cass really doesn't want to get pregnant again.
