WITH the Moree Picnic Races synonymous with cutting edge style, it’s no surprise the event has captured the attention of
Australia’s leading retailer, David Jones.
Following last year’s success, two representatives from David Jones past and present Publicity team will again judge the
highly coveted Fashions on the Field competition at the Moree Picnics on Saturday, May 28.
Judges, Jenna Dinicola and Madeleine Wilson were extremely impressed by the high caliber of designs and had some wise
words of advice to give Moree’s Autumn race-goers the seasonal edge.
AUTUMN RACING 101
Ladies:
* Felt hats and sculptural fascinators are the must have piece to complete your outfit – remember straw is only
for spring racing
* Always ensure you take your hat to the hairdresser to have it fitted correctly
* Always have an option for cooler weather. A tailored cropped jacket is perfect
* Accessories are key. Ensure they all match as odd bits and pieces don’t give a polished look
* To avoid sinking into the grass opt for platform shoes or wedges as an alternative to stilettos
* Remember you are at the track, not in a nightclub, so keep it sophisticated and elegant. Plunging
necklines and ultra-minis are not suitable for the racetrack
Gentlemen
* A pocket-handkerchief is an essential for any man attending the races. It gives your outfit a polished,
sophisticated look
* Accessorising is just important for the men, as it is the women. This includes cuff links, shoes, a belt, tie and a
masculine timepiece
* Don't forget sunglasses. Look for classic shapes in elegant eyewear
* Polish your shoes and look for smart socks
Grant applications now open
The NSW Department of Family and Community Services (FACS) funds Carers NSW to provide grants of $250 to carer support groups and organisations, to plan events and activities for carers during National Carers Week which runs from Sunday 16 - Saturday 22 October 2016. Organising an event is a wonderful way to give family and friend carers a much needed break from the responsibilities of their caring role and to acknowledge the contribution they make to the community. Many
events attract new members to carer support groups and are a great way of reaching out to hidden carers in your area. Grant applications are open until 5.00pm on Monday 4 July 2016. You can apply online or email [email protected] to request a printed copy of the application form. You will be notified of the outcome of your application by Friday 12 August 2016. If you are applying for a grant on behalf of a carer support group/organisation that does NOT have an ABN,
you are required to submit a Statement by a supplier formand a Donation Application form with your grant application, these forms are available on the Carers NSW website. Please send your completed forms [email protected] or PO Box 785, North Sydney NSW 2059 by 5.00pm on Monday 4 July 2016.
RECIPE OF THE
MONTH Lemon Ricotta Cheesecake
Ingredients
•1-1/2 cups crushed vanilla wafers (about 45
wafers)
•1/4 cup butter, melted
•1 teaspoon grated lemon zest
•2 pounds fresh, whole-milk ricotta cheese
•2/3 cup white sugar
•1/3 cup all-purpose flour
•6 eggs
•1/4 tspn ground cinnamon
•2 tspns grated lemon zest
•2 tspns vanilla extract
•1/8 teaspoon salt
Preparation
1.In a small bowl, combine wafer crumbs, butter
and lemon peel. Press onto the bottom of a
greased 9 1/2-in. springform pan. Bake at 325∞ F
for 12-14 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool.
2.Meanwhile, in a large mixing bowl, stir ricotta
with a rubber spatula until it reaches an extremely
smooth consistency. Add the sugar and flour into
the ricotta, mixing thoroughly.
3.Stir in the eggs 1 at a time. Next add in the
vanilla, cinnamon, lemon zest, and salt. Mix well.
Pour batter into crust.
4.Bake in the center of the oven for about 75 to
90 minutes at 300∞ F, unl the cake is a light
golden color. When it's ready, the center should
be fairly firm, and the point of a sharp knife
inserted in the center will come out clean.
5.Cool cake on a wire rack. Cover, and chill till
serving time.

and heat activated to create a water tight bond to
your nail. The shields are made in the USA, with no
harsh chemicals and are latex free. This new nail
treatment can be applied in about fifteen minutes at
home. With over three hundred styles to choose from,
these designer wraps are made to last up to two
