On the day of District 12’s Reaping, Prim, Katniss’s little sister, is chosen to go. Katniss won’t let that happen, so she volunteers for Prim. Peeta Melark is the boy representative from District 12. On the way to the Capitol, Katniss is surprised with the kindness all the people are expressing. They’re about to watch them die… for entertainment.

Now that the Games have begun, can Katniss keep her promise to her little sister, to win? Doubt fills Katniss’s thoughts, but she pushes on. Somewhere in the middle of the Games, the head Gamemaker changes the rules a tad. “A boy and a girl from the same district can win this year’s Hunger Games!”

Katniss is frantic to find Peeta. Peeta is terribly injured when Katniss ‘stumbles’ upon him. After a while, she realizes that she’s falling in love with him. It’s up to her to take care of both of them; food, water, and health. Can Katniss an Peeta make it through the Games?
