A Beautiful Statue

In a city square, a very beautiful statue of

the Happy Prince was standing.1

He was a very handsome statue.

His eyes were two sparkling sapphires.

He was covered with the finest gold.

On his sword, there was a sparkling ruby.2

The citizens of the city admired him very much.

One morning, the Town Councilors gathered to

admire the statue.3

“He is as handsome as a weathercock,”

exclaimed one of them.4

“I must rest tonight, but where will I stay?”
