VanadiumI 5000 A Basket Tetradecavanadate Cluster with Blue Luminescence. — For the first

time a tetradecavanadate is synthesized from organic solution and its structure is determined by single crystal XRD (orthorhombic, space group Pca21, Z = 4). The 2VIV/12VV-mixed V14O36 cluster of (II) possesses an unprecedented half-open basket framework. Through ABAB-type stacking, the V14O36 clusters form infinite one--dimensional channels with considerable accessible volume in the crystalline state.
