If Neil Armstrong jumps while on the moon with an initial speed of 1.51 m/s to a height of .7 m, what is the acceleration due to gravity on the moon?

A person (m=30 kg) climbs an 8 m tree. How much work did they do?

2352

A person with a mass of 53 kg runs up a flight of stairs (height 3 m) in 10 s. Later they run up the same flight of stairs in 3 s. How much more work is done the second time?

Same mass so same force. Same height so same work. Answer = 0. More power the second time.

A 2000 kg car is traveling at 30 m/s and locks the brakes. The car skids for 20 m. When the brakes are released the car has a speed of 12 m/s. What is the force due to friction?

A car ( m = 2721 kg) traveling at 10 m/s over the top of a symmetrical hill runs out of gas at the very top of the hill. This hill is 22 m high and 200 m long side to side. At the bottom of the hill there is a level road. A gas station is located 2 km from the base of the hill. If the force of friction is constant at 500 N does the car make it to the station. If not how far does the car travel from the time it runs out of gas?

A person is thrown off a horse. The instant he leaves the horse he is located 1.6 m above the ground and is moving straight up a 4 m/s. How high does the rider fly into the air and with what speed does he hit the ground?

A very light basket hangs from the limb of a tree by a long spring. The limb extends out over a pond, and the spring holds the basket 3 m above the surface of the pond. Three girls of equal mass carefully lower themselves into the basket, one after the other, causing the spring to stretch 1 m for each additional girl, so that with all three aboard, the basket just touches the water. The girls then jump into the water, and the basket returns to its original position. Once back on shore, one of the girls climbs to a higher limb of the tree and steps off, landing in the basket and causing the spring to stretch until the basket just touches the water’s surface again, for an instant. From what height above the water’s surface did the girl step from the higher limb?

A linear elastic spring is 15 cm long. When the upper end is held in the hand and a 500 g mass is suspended from the lower end, its length becomes 22 cm. If the hand is now jerked quickly upward, the spring first extends to a length of 28.5 cm, then the mass starts to move up. The hand is then held still.

What is the acceleration with which the mass first begins to move?
