Currently, there is a demand on the natural based perfume compared to the synthetic fragrance. Aromatherapy, which is one of the alter- native therapies use natural oils to enhance psychological and physical well-being. The aromas experienced through aromatherapy and essential oils have a dynamic effect on the mind and body. AN INTRODUCTION TONATURAL PERFUMERY

Natural perfumery is a blend of different types of oils, resin or wax which is extracted from plant or animal origin. Currently, there is a demand on the natural based perfume compared to the synthetic fragrance. Aromatherapy, which is one of the alter-native therapies use natural oils to enhance psychological and physical well-being. She is the Branch Manager of Institute of Bioproduct Development at UTM International Campus, Kuala Lumpur. She obtains her BSc in Biomedical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, USA, MSc in Biochemical Engineering from University College London, UK and PhD in Chemical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, USA. Her research interests include biosensor technology, biomaterials form encapsulation of active molecules, protein purification and insect cell culture.

Dr Rosnani Hasham has completed her PhD in Biochemical Engineering from Dongguk University South Korea related to Skin Barrier Function and Anti-photoageing ingredients. She also holds a Diploma in Aromatherapy and Holistic Massage from International Therapy Examination Council (ITEC), London. She has dedicated her career to the concepts of skin health and the development of aromatherapy techniques and formulations that help in restoring skin to its original health and beauty. She is currently IBD’s Research Associate, having been actively involved in R&D and commercialization of aroma-therapy and cosmeceutical products for the past 14 years. She is also an advisor of Bakawali SPA at IBD, Universiti teknologi Malaysia. She has lectured and conducted courses all over Malaysia and has taught her technique and philosophy to hundreds of aromatherapy practitio-ners.

She is a Research Officer of Institute of Bioproduct Development at UTM Kuala Lumpur. She has completed her BSc. in Biomedical from Universiti Putra Malaysia in 2004. Currently, she pursue her Masters of Philosophy in Bioprocess Engineering at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. Her research interests include of encapsulation of active molecules, drug delivery and cosmeceutical applications.

Dr Norhayati Mohamed Noor is a Research Associate who gained her PhD in Pharmaceu-tics from the UCL School of Pharmacy, London, UK in 2017. She gained her B.Eng in Chemical Engineering in 2004 and M.Eng in Bioprocess Engineering in 2013 from UTM, Malaysia. She has nearly 14 years of experi-ence conducting research and developing cosmeceutical and fragrance products. She is actively doing research on lipid nanoparticles for topical delivery and has developed cosmeceutical products for other companies as well. In 2009, she has formulated the Royal Perfumes SI I and SI II for the Highness of Sultan Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Ismail Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar and the perfumes have been launched by the Highness of Sultan Johor in 2011. She also has published a few chapters and original papers in this cosmeceutical area.
