Jerry Blackett CEO of Birmingham Chamber of Commerce Group
Is the entrepreneurial spirit still alive and well?
Yes and because entrepreneurs are the life-blood of this region, this is somethingwe need to strengthen and celebrate more.
What has impressed you most about the Midlands BusinessAwards?
They exemplify one entrepreneur’s dream to celebrate the achievements ofbusiness across the region. They are a powerful demonstration of the Midlands’story - and our success story.
“What started as modest awards event has now become one of the signature events in theMidlands region”
In what areas does this region still lead the way?
The Midlands remains a leader for niche manufacturing and automotive sectors. We have an excellent and strong university base. More and more our businessesand universities are working together to create commercial opportunities. Keyareas for development and exploitation are advanced materials, nanotechnologyand the response to the environmental agenda. We already have companies wellplaced to take these areas forward.
Mike Ashton CEO of Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce
George CowcherChief Executive & Director Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire & LeicestershireChamber of Commerce
The Midlands is a hotbed of entrepreneurial talent. It is important that this isharnessed and nurtured through its early stages of development, because today’sbudding entrepreneurs are the business leaders of tomorrow.
They will help create the jobs, growth and wealth that we need to drive theeconomy forward.
These awards play an important part in recognising, rewarding and celebratingthis fresh and emerging business talent.
