IDEA 1 TREATMENT “Two boys, no career prospects, no money quickly become men with blood on their hands, involvement in large scale drug deals and no escape from a life of gang crime. They want out, but it is too late, they are too deep.” The storyline will be based around two friends (both male) who have grown up and live on a rough London estate who have just left school. They leave school with absolutely no qualifications and so their career prospects are very limited. They decide to make money by robbing a small corner shop in the area, they succeed and are noticed by a local gang and so they recruit the two boys. The two friends quickly get involved with the gangʼs activities and before they know it, they get involved with drugs, guns and even murder. Both of them want to escape from this involvement as you realise throughout the episodes that the two boys are not as bad natured as you initially thought. As they are witnesses to serious crimes, they are not allowed to just leave the gang. The series is about their struggle to leave the life of crime and begin an honest one. The audience would be teenagers from 14 – 18 as they could most probably relate to the to main characters and because they would probably find it more interesting. The TV series would be a drama that is set in modern times. The style of the programme could contrast from being light hearted at the start when the boys rob the shop to being be quite dark, especially when the serious crimes happen. As the characters develop, you begin to understand their situation and you may even begin to fell sorry for them. The reason it would be ideal for the TV programme to be made now is because it is the time of year when a lot of young people have just left education, just like the two boys in the programme and so people are more likely to relate to them.
