Complimentary Color Photo ArtPoints: 60 Cropped Images Due: Sept 16 / Complete Project Due: Sept 18Goals: • Create an original work of art using a dominant color and a subordinate color to create emphasis of the dominant color. • The color must be complimentary colors. • Crate an original personal abstract artwork. • Use photography & photoshop to complete the assignment. • Work on time using your time wiselyTerms:Complimentary Color: colors that are opposite each other on the color wheelHue: a color or shadeDominance: power and influence over othersSubordinate: of less or secondary importanceEmphasis: special importance, value, or prominence given to somethingSaturation: the intensity of a colorAbstract Art: art that does not attempt to represent external, recognizable reality but seeks to achieve its effect using shapes, forms, colors, and textures.Crop: cut the edges of (a photograph) in order to produce a better picture or to fit a given space.Layer: a level of seniority in the hierarchy of a photoshop fileInstructions: PART 1Step 1: Take 12 photographs of items that are the same color & three of the complimentary color. (choose one Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Violet and it’s compliment)Step 2: Upload the images to your computerStep 3: Open your images in Photoshop and narrow down your selection to Qty: 9 (2” x 2”) croppings.

How To Crop: 1. Open your image 2. Choose the crop tool 3. Type in 2“ x 2” at the top 4. Scale your crop square and place it over the area you want to crop. 5. Click on the closed arrow and click ok.

Step 4: Save Each image as 2” x 2” @ 300 dpi

Step 5: Name it with a color and number, for example: Blue 1

STOPAfter Demonstration on 9/18: PART 2

Step 1: Open a new file that is 6” x 6” @ 300dpi & RGB color. (SAVE)

Step 2: Put guides at 2” & 4” both vertically & horizontally (pull from sides)

Step 3: Copy and paste each of the nine images into your document. (SAVE)

Step 4: Line up your images on the grid. Zoom in for accuracy.

Step 5: Make sure all your edges line up, including on the outside.

Step 6: Change the size of your image (Image/Canvas Size) to 7” x 7”. (SAVE)

Step 7: Import one image of the complimentaty color. Make sure it fills the canvas.

Step 8: Move this layer to the bottom. (SAVE)

Step 8: Save As jpg & post to Blog.
