1. Start PowerPoint. Locate and open the file p01_Opportunities. Save the file in yourPowerPoint Chapter 1 folder as Lastname_Firstname_p01_Opportunities

2. On Slide 1, click in the title placeholder—Company Opportunities. Hold down C, andthen press r to right-align the title.

C + r is the keyboard shortcut for the Align Text Right button.

3. Select the title text. Hold down C, and then press b to apply bold to the title. Compareyour screen with Figure 1.

4. Display Slide 2, and then click in the paragraph. Hold down C and press e to center theparagraph.

5. Select the entire paragraph, and then press C + i to apply italic to the selection. Clickanywhere on the slide to deselect the paragraph, and compare your slide with Figure 2.

6. On the Home tab, in the Editing group, point to Replace and notice that the ScreenTipdisplays the keyboard shortcut C + h as shown in Figure 3.

Use the ScreenTips to identify the shortcuts available in PowerPoint.

7. Display Slide 1, and then press C + h to display the Replace dialog box. In the Findwhat box, type Company and then press F to move the insertion point to the Replacewith box. Type Business

8. Click Replace All, and then click OK to close the message box. Close the Replace dialogbox.

9. Review the commonly used PowerPoint keyboard shortcuts summarized in the table inFigure 4.

C � L Aligns text left.

C � E Aligns text center.

C � R Aligns text right.

C � B Applies bold.

C � I Applies italic.

C � U Applies underline.

F When pressed before typing a new bullet point,increases the list level—demotes the bullet point.

V � F When pressed before typing a new bullet point,decreases the list level—promotes the bullet point.

V � 3 Changes the case of selected letters to sentence,lowercase, or uppercase.

5 Starts a slide show from the beginning.

C � GKKKKKKLJ Moves to the next placeholder on a slide. If the lastplaceholder on a slide is selected, C � GKKKKKKLJ inserts anew slide.

C � s Saves the presentation with the current name in thecurrent location.

10. On the Insert tab, in the Text group, click the Header & Footer button, and then click theNotes and Handouts tab. Select the Footer check box, and then in the Footer box, typeLastname_Firstname_p01_Opportunities Click Apply to All.

11. Press C + s to save the presentation. Print your presentation or submit the file asdirected by your instructor.
