FACULTY OF DENTAL SCIENCE. Compulsory Entrance Subjects.—Physics at either the In-

termediate or School Leaving Examination standard. Sub-ject to this requirement, any matriculated student may proceed to the Dental Science course.

(1) Bachelor of Dental Science (B.D.So.) .—For this de-gree a candidate must pursue his studies for four years and two terms, and must pass five examinations. All the subjects of a year, or all the subjects of a group when a year is so divided, are to be passed at the one examination. Before admission to higher groups lower groups must be passed as shown in the following table:—

Notes. The above are sub-jects of lecture and practical work only. In addition, a certi-ficate of six months' attendance (includ-ing clinical, instruc-tion and lectures) at the Australian Col-lege of Dentistry is required. The subjects of ex-amination in the 6th Year are those of Group II. in the 4th Year, shown in the table for that year.

I. only form the sub-jects of examination of the 4th Year, known as Final Ex-amination, Group I.

(2) The subjects of Group II. form the subjects of examination of the 5th Year, known as Final Examina-tion, Group II.

(3) There are two ex-aminations each year in both Final groups, but no Supplement-ary Examinations.

At the Final Examination a Class List will be published for the whole of the subjects of the year. Candidates who are classed at the Examination of the Fourth Year may be awarded Distinction in any subject or subjects in which they have given evidence of special knowledge or pro-ficiency.

RE-EXAMINATION. The following provisions apply to candidates who have

failed, and seek re-examination:— (1) Subject to dispensation of the Faculty in special

rases candidates failing in any group will be required to repeat the whole work of the year in that group before presenting for re-examination.

(2) Candidates failing in Group I. of the Final Examina-tion will be required to present certificates of three months' additional instruction in General Hospital Practice before presenting for re-examination.

(8) Candidates failing in Group II. of the Final Exam-ination will be required to present certificates of three months' additional instruction in (1) Clinical Dental Sur-gery, (2) Prosthetic Dentistry before presenting for re-examination.

NEW COURSE. The provisions of the new course will supersede those

of the old course as follows:—First year, March 1, 1927 ; Second year, those attending during 1928 ; Third year, those attending during 1929 ; Fourth and Fifth years, those attending during 1930.

(2) Doctor of Dental Science (D.D.Sc.).—Admission to this degree is by examination and thesis, but in special cases, and in the case of a registrable medical qualification, exemption may be granted from the examination. Can-didates must be Bachelors of Dental Science or of Dental Surgery of at least one year's standing before being ad-mitted to examination or presentation of thesis, and of two years' standing before being admitted to the degree. The thesis must show evidence of research and ability. The examination will be partly written, partly practical, and partly oral, as follows:—

To pass in Part II. candidates must present a thesis giving evi-dence of research and ability satisfactory to the Examiners, in one of the five subjects set out, and if so required by the Examiners must also pass the examination in that subject.

Both Part I. and Part II. are required to complete the examination. Both parts may be taken at the same examina-tion, or either part at different examinations.
