University of Glasgow 12-lead algorithm
• 35 years of refinement and considered to be in the top 3 ECG interpretive
algorithms in the world.
• The 2009 AHA/ADDF/HRS for STEMI criteria and the Glasgow STEMI
algorithm are both based on Dr. Macfarlane’s landmark work to gather data
from healthy adults and define the normal limits for ST levels, QRS amplitudes
and other ECG measurements.
• As a result, the current AHA and Glasgow STEMI critera are similar, both
based on gender and age, with the AHA criteria simplified to allow a human to
remember the criteria. The Glasgow criteria more closely track the normal
limits and continuously adjusts ST thresholds as males age from 20 to 60
years.
• The 2009 AHA/ACCF/HRS recommendations advise use of the Sgarbossa
criteria to identify STEMI patients with a Left Bundle-Branch Block (LBBB).
The Sgarbossa criteria have been incorporated into the Glasgow algorithm.
• When a STEMI is identified, the LIFEPAK 15 device reports
