The Day of Giving is entering its 3rd year anniversary, its annual event is being held this coming October 4th, 9-12pm, at St. Mary’s Church, in Aspen. The event serves communities throughout the valley.

The Day of Giving originated out of the realization , that although, we live in a very prosperous community, there is a significant population in need of assistance with the basics, such as, clothing, health care, food and transportation. We hold the annual event during the transitional season entering into fall and winter, as families need assistance in clothing their children for the elements and back to school needs.

The event involves holding a totally free shopping experience for those in need. They will be taking home with them donated clothing, and various gift certificates that the community provides. This includes gas, groceries, health care, and entertainment gift certificates. The past two years, the event has served more than 700 residents in the valley, per year.

The community participates by contributing all forms of clothing and merchandise, and vendor gift certificates. The community also contributes monies corporately or individually. These monies are converted to gas, grocery, and transportation gift certificates.

The Day of giving was founded by a group of local Aspen women, who embraced this need and wanted to get the community involved in giving back to the community, thus THE DAY OF GIVING.
