MOOSE CALLLoyal Order of Moose January, 2012
94th Year
Woodstock Moose Family Center Celebrates its 94th Anniversary
We are a very fortunate lodge to celebrate 94 years on Saturday January 28, 2012. What a party we have planned for you!We are honored to have
both of Moose International’s highest dignitaries; Bill Airey, Director General of the Loyal Order of the Moose and our own Barb McPherson, Grand Chancellor of the Women of the Moose which have graciously accepted our invitation to be guest speakers. We will have an awards
ceremony for many of our outstanding members and will also have music played by “Eric’s All” for your listening and dancing pleasure. We plan on making this a fun filled celebration you won’t forget! We will be serving Carved
Roast Beef, Broasted Chicken, Potatoes, Vegetables, Salad and Desert and are asking for
a $5.00 donation to help cover the cost of the food and entertainment. Please make sure you let us know how many are in
your party so we can make sure we have enough food for everyone. A sign-up sheet will be available in the front entry way or you can call the office 815-338-0126 (Monday-Friday 8:00am-2:00pm). Dress is business casual or your Regalia. A full
itinerary will be found at the Lodge on the Moose Vision TV in the Social Quarters and on our website (www.woodstockmoose1329.com) or call the office. Please plan on attending this very special occasion.Board of Officers

There will be a $2.00 charge per person for sampling rights. We will be having a meat raffle during the night. Free juke box for enjoyment. Jerry
Slack will be putting together a baggos tournament and the WII game will be set up for those who like to bowl. all you’ve done. Anna enjoy your retirement! Bill Lock, Governor

Membership MinuteThe membership committee would like to say thank
you to ALL of our members for a great year so far. The membership committee is assigned two very important tasks that are vital to our Moose Lodge: Help Gain New Members & Retain Existing Members. New Members:Our fi rst task is to design programs and events to help
our lodge gain new members. We also work with other committees to tie in membership drives with their events. New members are vital to the future of our lodge. New members not only add to our ranks, they bring in new energy, ideas, and perspectives so important to help our lodge not only grow, but thrive. Keep looking in your Moose Call for upcoming specials and/or events that can help you bring in and sign up prospective members. Support of membership dinners and events helps to fund our new member programs, so please come out and join us. Retention of Existing Members:As a Lodge, keeping our existing members is just as
important to our success as gaining new members. In this Moose Call you’ll fi nd a Frequent Diner Card. Take a close look at the article enclosed in this Moose Call for the Frequent Diner Card details. Membership does have its benefi ts! Look at the calendar and see what fun, family friendly events we have coming for you to take advantage of.
Utilization of the Lodge:While setting up new member programs and working
to keep our existing membership base, we are also working to increase the utilization of our lodge by all of its members. Stop in to the Social Quarters for Saturday Lighting or the Sunday Attendance Drawing and meat raffl es. We are so fortunate to be a Lodge that has a Chef. When was the last time you came in for a Monday night dinner or a Friday night fi sh fry? If you haven’t been in for Dave’s cooking, you’ve been missing out. Check out the events calendar and make a plan to come join us….soon!Membership Committee
New Web MastersWith my new job, being the editor of both the Woodstock
Moose Call and the Illini Magazine, I just didn’t have time (or energy) to keep our site updated. Thanks to those who stepped forward and showed interest and complained that the site needed updating. I didn’t think that many people visited the site. Sorry to have let you down, but the good news is we have a new web master(s)!We had 4 people (two came as a couple) come forward
wanting to help out. Thanks to those who responded. The new web masters are: Dan MacKenzie and his girlfriend, Kathy Ericksen. Dan has been a website developer for 14 years and they have a joint venture in developing a website. How lucky we are to have the both of them take time out of their busy schedules to keep the site updated. If you have photos or something you’d like to see on the
site, you can email Dan at [email protected]. If you have a lot of photos, make a CD/DVD of them and drop it off at the Lodge and email Dan that the photos are there and he’ll pick it up.Dixie Church, Editor
BingoJust a reminder. Bingo is shutting down January and
February. We will resume March 7th. Our Crossfire has been growing quite well. As I write this article it is over 2500.00. With the money problems so many are having, this could be a great win for someone. There

Letter From SantaWhat a great time, lots of smiles, lots of kids, lots of
presents and lots of cookies. The Woodstock Moose Family Center is one of my favorite stops during this busy Christmas season. Every year the turn out of children for the Shopping with Santa and the Children’s Christmas Party is “WONDERFUL”! As always I need to “THANK”
all of my helpers, they help put the smiles on many children faces. I want to thank all of the children for their letters and
their love. The “BEST” gift I receive every year is a hug from a child and when I look into a sweet child’s eyes, I can see a little bit of Heaven. Everyone be good and be safe in 2012 and I will see you next year. God Bless the Children.
With Lots of Love, SANTA
Shop with Santa We had a great turn out for Shop with Santa. Santa even
stopped by to see the children (probably to see who was naughty or nice),We had a lot of kids, a lot of gifts, a lot of wrapping and a lot of smiling faces as the kids did their shopping. That’s what it’s all about. A BIG Thank-you to all the Helpers! Thank-you to Santa for stopping by. Christmas Committee

Ritual Staff RequestThe Woodstock Moose Lodge, in conjunction with
the Harvard Moose Lodge is looking to reconstruct a Ritual Staff. Those Members who have been enrolled for more than 3 years will remember the experience of the formal enrollment ceremony. We are attempting to bring back this introduction to the Fraternity’s history, purpose and obligations.Joining the Ritual staff will require a commitment
of an hour or two a week, memorization of an approximately 150 word speech, and a commitment to excellence. Formal enrollments were dropped from the Fraternity 2 years ago, presumably due to sloppy and unprofessional enrollments from the Lodges. This is not the attitude or commitment we are looking for in reforming this staff. We are seeking dedicated people who are willing to commit to excellence. The Woodstock and Harvard Lodges have a long tradition of Ritual excellence. If you remember your enrollment, and appreciated the
dedicated Members who were committed to bringing you a professional ritual enrollment, and would like to offer that experience to our newest Members, please contact the Offi ce of the Woodstock or Harvard Moose Lodge during regular business hours.Kevin Gilliland
A Special ThanksSometimes we at the Woodstock Family Center
think that all the wonderful things that happen for our children and also for the adults in our lodge just happen. We have come to just expect them to be there year after year, holiday after holiday, not realizing there are special people who work all year long to make these special events happen. The people spend hours upon hours of time and effort, not to mention the monetary amount they sometimes put out to make sure our members have the best time in our fraternity. Most times we, the members, have no idea the countless hours that are given to achieve the level of service we have become accustomed to.This includes all committees, which are too many to
name right now.At this time of year a special shout out to our award
winning Family Activities Committee, co-chaired by Sue and Bill Lock and the rest of the committee and their friends and helpers who also step up during the holidays to help. Thank-you for the wonderful job you have done in the last few years and for all the joy and happiness you have given to our kids and grand kids over the years. Thanks to the rest of the committees, their helpers,
and volunteers for making this the best lodge in the whole fraternity.A Grateful mentor of Lodge 1329
