I Handling Precaut¡ons For Traverse DeckThe laser diode in the traverse deck (optical pickup) may break down due to potential dif ferencecaused by stat ic electr ici ty of clothes or human body.So, be careful of electrostat ic breakdown during repair of the traverse deck (optical pickup).

. Handling of traverse deck (optical pickup)
1. Do not subject the traverse deck (optical pickup) to stat ic electr ici ty as i t isextremely sensit ive to electr ical shock.
2. To prevent the breakdown of the laser diode, an antistat ic shorl ing pin isinsefied into the f lexible board (FFC board).When removing or connecting the short pin, f inish the job in as short t imeas possible.
3. Take care not to apply excessive stress to the f lexible board (FFC board).4. Do not turn the variable resistor ( laser power adjustment). l t has already
been adjusted.
. Grounding for electrostat¡c breakdown prevention
1. Human body ground ingUse the anti-stat ic wrist strap to discharge the stat ic electr ici ty from yourDooy.
2. Work table groundingPut a conductive material (sheet) or steel sheet on thearea where thetraverse deck (optical pickup) is placed, and ground the sheet.
Caution :The stat ic electr ici ty of your clothes wil l not be groundedthrough the wrist strap. So, take care not to let yourclothes touch the traverse deck (optical pickup).
Caution when Replacing the Traverse Deck:The traverse deck has a short po¡nt shorted with solder to protect the laserdiode against electrostat ics breakdown. Be sure to remove the solder f rom
the short point before making connections.

When replacing parts, use only manufacturer 's recommended components for safety.3. Check the condit¡on of the power cord. Replace i f wear or damage is evident.4. After servicing, be sure to restore the lead dress, insulat ion barriers, insulat ion papers, shields, etc.5. Before returning the servrced equipment to the customer, be sure to make the fol lowing insulat ion
resistance test to prevent the customer from being exposed to a shock hazard
. Insulation Resistance Test1. Unplug the power cord and short the two prongs of the plug with a jumper wire.2. f urn on the power switch.3. Measure the resistance value with ohmmeter between the jumper AC plug and each exposed metal
cabinet part, such as screwheads, antenna, control shafts, handle brackets, etc. Equipment with antennaterm¡nals should read between 3MQ and 5.2MO to al l exposed parts-. ( Fig. 1 ) Equipment withoutantenna term¡nals should read approximately inf ini ty to al l exposed parts. ( Fig. 2 ).Note : Some exposed parts may be isolated from the chassis by design. These wil l read inf inity.
4. l f the measurement is outside the specif ied l imits, there is a possibi l i ty of a shock hazard. The equipmentshould be repaired and rechecked before i t is returned to the customer.

. No sound is heard when the power is turned on.
. Sound stops during a performance.The f unction of this circuitry is to prevent c¡rcuttry damage if , for example,the posit ive and negative speaker connection wires are "shorted', , or i fspeaker systems with an impedance less than the indicated ratedimpedance of the ampli f ier are used.
I Precaution of Laser DiodeCAUTION: This unit utr l izes a class 1 laser. Invisrble laser radiat ion is emitted from the optical pick up lens.
When the unit is turned on :1. Do not look direct ly into the pick up lens.2. Do not use optical insturments to look at the pick up lens.3. Do not adjust the preset variable resistor on the pick up lens.4. Do not disassemble the optical pick up unit.5. l f the optical pick up is replaced, use the manufacturer 's specif ied replacement pick up only.6. Use of control or adjustments or performance of procedures other than those specif ied herein may result in hazardous radiat ionexoosure.
