Industrial Relay Card Installation and Use
Thank you for purchasing the Powerware Industrial Relay Card as an option for your
Powerware UPS system. The Industrial Relay Card can be used to interface the RemoteMonitor Panel (Figure 3) to the UPS system, as well as provide four (4) isolated N/O or
N/C relays for use to interface with facility monitors or equipment.
Figure 1 (below) shows the installer what the card will look like, before installation into
the UPS system. The wires shown in the picture are those, which would be installed wheninstalling a Remote Monitor Panel, which would give the user a remote indication of the
status of the UPS system. The Remote Monitor uses a separate drive circuit, notassociated with the 250VAC rated relays, so both the Remote Monitor and isolated relayfeatures can be used at the same time. The isolated relay contacts are rated for 250VAC
or 30VDC @ 5A (inductive or resistive load). Please review the following diagram forproper wiring terminations.

Figure 1After terminating the control wiring, the board is easily inserted in one of the
communication bay slots on the back of the UPS system. These communication bays arenumbered from one (1) to four (4) with number one being the leftmost slot when looking
at the back of the UPS system. This card needs to be installed in slots number one (1) or
two (2) to ensure operation of the relays, consistent with the labels on the board. If thecard is installed in slots three (3) or four (4), the default setting would be similar to the
contact closure conditions used with some computer systems, specifically those neededby IBM AS400 systems. Please refer to figure 2 below:
