Hurricane Harvey Assistance
Please take note of the following resources that have come through HISD e-mailings and
information on where to donate items. Should you need further assistance or clarification,

Beginning September 11, all donations will be received at Delmar Fieldhouse (2020
Mangum Road Houston, TX 77092).

Uniforms**
HISD has relaxed the uniform policy, but students may wear uniforms, if they have
secured them or been provided such. HISD distributed thousands of uniforms at 7
locations throughout Houston September 8th & 9th from 9:00AM-3:00PM, to assist in
this effort.
**Deans will work with all students to assist with obtaining uniforms, once identified as a need.
Students who were not impacted by Hurricane Harvey should remain in uniform, as they have
secured such. If needing financial assistance, please feel free to approach your grade level Dean
or any campus employee.

DROP-OFF AND PICK-UP FOR CAR RIDERS
WHEN YOU DROP OFF YOUR STUDENT IN THE MORNING AND PICK
HIM/HER UP AT DISMISSAL IN THE AFTERNOON, PLEASE FOLLOW THE
DIRECTIONS OF SCHOOL PERSONNEL WHO WILL BE DIRECTING THE FLOW
OF TRAFFIC TO KEEP EVERYONE SAFE, ESPECIALLY STUDENTS.
Students will be allowed into the building at 7:45 a.m. Please note that there will be no
school personnel monitoring students who will be dropped off earlier than 7:45 and left
on school grounds, outside of the building.
In the afternoon, students who are not picked up by 4:30 will be led back into the school
building. Anyone picking up after 4:30 will have to go to the main office to pick up their
student. If unable to get off your car and pick up your student yourself from the main
office, please send an adult, and not a child, on your behalf.
If your student will be walking home after-school, send/submit a signed letter of
authorization to Ms. de Dios, the 6th
grade dean. The letter must clearly identify the
student, the person authorizing the student to walk home after school and the contact
information of the said person.
***SCHOOL RULES AND POLICIES***
Before being dismissed for first period, ALL students MUST be in their assigned
areas. 6th
grade students report to the AUDITORIUM. No students are allowed to be in
the hallways, classrooms or restrooms WITHOUT PERMISSION.
Locker times: Morning, after being dismissed from their designated areas; Before and
After Lunch; Between 4th
and 5th
Period.
Dress code: Navy blue polo shirt with BCMA logo, khaki pants/shorts or skirts that are
knee-length, BCMA navy blue sweater or solid blue sweater. School I.D. must be worn
around the neck at all times.
ONLY ON FRIDAYS: Blue or black jeans with no tears, cuts or holes, BCMA spirit
t-shirt or college t-shirt.
When dismissed at 4:00 p.m., all bus riders must proceed directly and promptly to the bus
ramps. School buses will leave at 4:07 p.m. everyday. Car riders must proceed directly
and promptly to the front of the building.
Be respectful to school personnel and fellow students.

READING
MS.BELLER
Monday (B day) and Tuesday (A day)
Students will review the class syllabus, and will learn classroom and course
expectations and procedures.
Wednesday (B day) and Thursday (A day)
Students will make inferences about text using textual evidence to support
understanding and will read a personal narrative and discuss author’s style and
purpose.
Students will also complete a Reading Interest Inventory
HOMEWORK:
o Due Wednesday and Thursday: Please return a signed copy of the course
syllabus.
Please Note:
All class supplies are due in class on September 18th
and September 19th
. Supplies needed
are: one binder, five dividers, blue/black pens, highlighters, loose leaf paper, and sticky

MR. MARTINEZ
Students will discuss and understand class norms and expectations.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS
MR. HAYNER
Mr. Hayner’s writing class will focus on all aspects of written communication as well as
speaking and listening. This agenda is a framework to be used by parents and students to
keep up with upcoming concepts and assignments. Please email me at

hours. I try to send progress reports through gradespeed once per week, so please contact

We will introduce rational numbers and the classification of the subsets of that
number system.
In modeling the subsets of rational numbers, we will use a variety of illustrations
including Venn diagrams

We will focus on the rational number subset of Integers in today’s activity.

Homework assignments for the first week include the filling out and signing of
the last page of the syllabus, and studying the syllabus for a quiz to take place
approximately Sept 18/19.

REQUIRED ART CLASSROOM MATERIALS:
o ITEM #1: Signed SYLLABI are due by Friday, September 1 for each Fall Visual
Arts student. It needs to be signed by the parent/guardian and student. This is
also considered a behavior contract. This syllabi is worth 5 points.
o ITEM #2: Required SUPPLIES LIST was sent home with students. These items
include: pencils (graphite or mechanical), notebook paper (loose-leaf or spiral
bound), paper folder, colored pencils, markers, and scissors.
These are likely materials that have been requested in other classes as well. You do not
have to purchase anything expensive, a couple dollar investment will do.
There will be a regular supply check that will be worth 5 points weekly. The first supply
check will happen the 2nd day of class during Week 1 (end of the week).
Please also consider donating items like rolls of paper towel, facial tissue, newspaper, and
sterile/clean yogurt containers (the large containers).
