Congratulations to Doreen (Rene) O’Halloran, nee Dowling, who celebrated her 94th birthday on 5 September 2013. I believe Rene is the oldest lady in the Balranald Shire.

Alison McGaffin and Wendy McPherson from the NSW Office of Premier and Cabinet met with Councillors and senior staff on 28th August 2013 to discuss future project within the Shire.

On Friday 30th August, 2013 Professor Graham Sansom, Chairman of Local Government Review Panel addressed Councillors on the findings of the Local Government Review.

Congratulations to Balranald Football and Netball Clubs who successfully hosted the CMFNL qualifying final at Greenham Park on 31 August. A great day was had by all.

Big congratulations to the Under 13’s football team who made it all the way to the Grand final on 21 September. This is a fantastic achievement to the players and all those involved behind the scenes including parents and supporters.

Congratulations to Ellie Brougham and Cameron Barrett who represented Balranald Football Netball Club at the Central Murray Football Netball League Vote Count on Monday 16 September. Ellie received the 19 and Under Distinction Award in netball and Cameron Rookie of the Year in football. Balranald Shire is proud of their outstanding achievements in receiving these prestigious awards.

Jamie Maslen, from the Attorney General and Justice Department visited Balranald to meet with Council’s senior staff to discuss options for relocation of the Court House. Council looks forward to a positive report to the Attorney General’s office following the meeting.

Thanks to Mr John Williams MP for organising an urgent meeting with The Hon. Katrina Hodgkinson MP, and his support at this meeting. Minister Hodgkinson assured Mr Williams, the General Manager and myself that she had received information that the town of Balranald had an alternative supply of water. The Minister undertook to respond to situation.

Thanks to Council for allowing me the opportunity to attend the LGNSW Water Conference in Terrigal last month.
