    Design Team and Staffwill be available on Thursday, September 8, 2011 from 7:00PM to

    withcommunityand to solicitpreferenceson streetscape treatmentsand sidewalkwidening

    opportunities. Additionalmeetingswillbeheldregularlythroughoutthedesignprocess.

    Theupdatedalternativeconceptplansforthestreetscapeprojectincludeimprovementssuch

    asenhancedraisedcrosswalks;additionalonstreetparkinginvariousparkingangle

    configurations;possibleexpandednewsidewalkseatingareasand/oradditionallandscaping;

    upgradedsidewalkamenities(benches,bikeracks,trashreceptacles,newsracks,information

    kiosks);newstreetlightfixtures;newgatewaysignsandmonuments;andimprovementstothe

    ParkBoulevardplaza.

    TheprojectincludesstreetscapeenhancementsalongCaliforniaAvenuebetweenElCaminoReal

    andtheParkBoulevardPlazasuchas:enhancedraisedcrosswalks,possibleexpandednewsidewalk

    seatingareas,upgradedsidewalkamenities(benches,bikeracks,trashreceptacles,newsracks,and

    informationkiosks),newstreetlightfixtures,newgatewaysignsandmonuments,streetrepaving,

    andredesignoftheParkBoulevardPlaza. Theprojectisfundedthroughacombinationofgrant

    fundandlocalmatchsourcesfromtheCitysCapitalImprovementProgram.

    Whatisthescheduleoftheproject?

    TheCityrecentlyselectedtheRBFConsultantsandGates&Associatesteamforthedesignofthis

    project. Surveyingoftheprojectwasjustcompletedandtheconsultantteamwillbeginsoliciting

    publicinputregardingdesignelementsoftheproject. Thedesignphasewillcontinuethrough

    Spring2012.

    No. Theproposedprojectcurrentlyprovides17additionalonstreetparkingspaces. Thefinal

    designmayincludesidewalkandpedestrianscalelightingimprovementsthatwillaffectthefinalon

    streetparkingcount. TheCityplansmonthlyoutreachmeetingstosolicitpublicinputonthedesign.

    DoestheprojectincludeareductionofthenumberoftravellanesonCaliforniaAvenue?

    Yes. TheprojectincludesarestripingofCaliforniaAvenuethatprovidestwotravellanes(oneper

    direction). Atintersections,turnlanesandsomedriveways,turnlanesaremaintainedtohelp

    maintainroadwaycapacity.

    DoestheprojectaffectexistingtreesplantedalongCaliforniaAvenue?

    No. Existingtreeswillbepreserved. AdditionallandscapingisproposedattheParkPlazaandalong

    theprojectlimits.

    DoestheprojectincludeimprovementstotheParkBoulevardPlaza?

    Yes. TheprojectincludesaredesignoftheParkBoulevardPlaza,includingimplementationofthe

    newpublicartfountain,outdoorseatingareas,andenhancedbicycleparkingfacilities.
