90 PROOF is a Cleveland-based 90s alternative music cover band with a broad range of familiar hits that will bring a crowd to their feet and transport them back to a time of alternative rock legends.
About the Band
90 PROOF was founded in late 2013 when Dave Kennicutt (guitar) and Josh Swedlow (vocals) joined with Chris Noga (guitar), Kevin Cunningham (bass) and Al DeAmon (percussion), performing under the moniker of 90 ALT Five at local bars, clubs, private parties and even the occasional charity event. The five-some played memorable hits from the 90s throughout Northeast Ohio to appreciative crowds comprised of friends, family members and enthusiastic followers.
In the winter of 2015, Brad Doerfler replaced DeAmon on drums. Personal and professional time commitments later that year would necessitate Noga’s, and eventually Cunningham’s, departures from the band. By the end of the year, the group would welcome guitarist Phil Dennison and bassist Pete Ferber into the fold.
Kicking off the New Year and celebrating the band’s solidified line-up, tight sound and growing setlist, the bandmates determined a name change was in order to reflect its evolution. By Spring 2016, 90 PROOF was gigging regularly with the new members who brought friends, family and followers of their own.
90 PROOF performs a combination of popular 90s alternative hits, recognizable then and now. While the group loves to include some of the one-hit wonders that dominated “Alternative Radio” in the 90s, many of the bands they cover are still popular—recording, charting and even touring today—which aids in name as well as song recognition.
By continuing to offer the right balance of nostalgia with the timelessness of catchy musical hooks, tight vocal harmonies and spot-on instrumentation, 90 PROOF shows at least get toes tapping but often have people out of their seats and up on their feet—making them a crowd favorite.

90 PROOF is Northeast Ohio’s Premier 90s alternative cover band, playing a range of hits, to entertain and engage crowds at restaurants, clubs, pubs and private parties.
Band Gear, Equipment & Services
GEARLong-time musicians, each band member owns and maintains high quality gear from top names in the industry including Gibson, Vox, Hamer, Fender, Yamaha, and more. Each vocalist is able to bring and use his own microphone, if necessary.
EQUIPMENTIn addition to instruments, pedals, microphones and amps, 90 PROOF owns a Yamaha 440W 12-channel mixing board with three on-stage fold-back monitors, two JBL 12” stage loudspeakers that can be quickly and easily set up on adjustable poles and all necessary cables.
With proper electrical access, the band and can run sound from the stage or a near-stage location with minimal disruptions to the performances, if and when needed.
SERVICES90 PROOF‘s repertoire allows the band to easily perform for up to three hours with no repeated songs. Typically members can play sets of 40-60 minutes and up to three sets with breaks.
With this set-up, 90 PROOF can accommodate most any size bar, club, restaurant, or hall for public and/or private events and even a variety of outdoor, festival settings for several hours of quality entertainment at affordable rates.

About the Band MembersDAVE KENNICUTT | guitar & vocals
Dave grew up listening to bands like Rush and AC/DC, so he naturally gravitates toward the louder, heavier bands of the 1990s, such as the Foo Fighters and Pearl Jam. He likes Marshall amps and Gibson guitars with humbuckers. Dave’s playing style brings more of the hard edged, grunge of the era to 90 PROOF’s sets.
JOSH SWEDLOW | lead vocals & acoustic guitar
Josh, like some of the other band members has been performing since the 90s, though he is the only one who was in high school at the time. Josh was a vocalist in Sound Sensation, Brush High School’s show choir. Following high school, Josh toured North America and Europe with the Miami University Men’s Glee Club. A passion for music, Josh joined Dave in founding this band to continue singing, and now also plays acoustic guitar on select songs in the band’s repertoire.
PHIL DENNISON | guitar & vocals
Phil has been playing bass, guitar or both and singing in bands (cover and all-original) since the early 90s. As a member of bands in both Ohio and the D.C. metro area, he’s had the opportunity to perform in Ohio, Pennsylvania, DC, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and even Canada. Phil’s melodic-style playing complements Dave’s harder edge, and Phil’s ability to pick out subtle nuances of 90s music that add an authenticity to the band’s retro sound.
PETE FERBER | bass guitar
Pete hails from London and was born less than a mile from where The Who started up. A huge fan of bands like The Beatles, The Who, and Pink Floyd, Pete brings an excellent sense of melody to 90 PROOF. He has played with bands in the UK including The Shed, and most recently was with Midnight Drive here in Ohio.
BRAD DOERFLER | percussion
Brad, a graduate of the Akron University School of Music, has being playing drums most of his life, including as a member of Akron/Canton-based bands Smokin Boots and The Texas Toast Band. Additionally, Brad has also taught percussion, and some of his students are currently gigging in Northeast Ohio as well.
