Without materials management experience, knowing where to start and how to continually monitor processes can be difficult. Issues and Challenges with Complying with Manufacturer’s Instructions for Use (IFUs)Speaker: Nancy Chobin, CEO, AAS, ACSP, CSPM, CFER, Sterile Processing University, LLCCompliance with manufacturer’s instructions for use is an important safety and regulatory requirement yet facilities are challenged with this process. Now What?Speakers: Nelson Gomes, President & CEO, PriorityOne Group; Jeff Miller, Cyber Security Analyst, PriorityOne GroupThe number of U.S. data breach incidents tracked in 2017 hit a new record high of 1,579 breaches (www.idtheftcen-ter.org/2017-data-breaches), and it wouldn't be a surprise to see that figure rise in 2018. ASCs, with their valuable protected health information, find themselves in the crosshairs of cybercriminals. Even with a strong defense, breaches at ASCs can still occur. That's why it's critical for centers to have a plan in place to effectively respond to a breach. This session will cover how a breach occurs and the components of an effective response and recovery plan, and provide guidance to help ASC's improve their preparedness.Pending approval for AEU Credit by BASC

5. Can the Opioid Epidemic Affect your ASC? Reimbursement Changes and how they can affect your ASC and Anesthesia ProvidersSpeaker: Jill Susan Young, D.O., CEO/Chairwoman, Morris Anesthesia GroupTwo areas will be discussed. First, the opioid epidemic in NJ and what impact it may have on your ASC. The second topic will uncover where and how far insurance companies are willing to go in prescribing our care to patients.
