Between our Trail Crew and our Litter Pick up Crew, Friends of DuPont Forest invested more than 1000 volunteer hours to help maintain the trails and keep the roads free of litter. We thank all of our volunteers for their hard work, especially our trail bosses Lyle and Molly Burgmann. In the Spring and Fall 2018, Friends of DuPont Forest sponsored volunteer work weekends with AB-Tech students. Led by AB-Tech professor, Eric Hurly, the students built new kiosks at Lake Imaging and Hookers Falls. In April of 2018, thanks to the generous donations from our members and donors, Friends of DuPont Forest donated $50k toward s the construction of the much needed Hooker Falls bathroom. Kudos to our Events Committee! In 2018 they put on 15 sold out educational events including the ever popular mushroom hike and a lecture about the history of moonshine in DuPont Forest and Cedar Mountain. Job well done! The inaugural DuPont Forest Festival launched on September 22, 2018. We are so thankful for all of our volunteers. Thank you for sharing your time and knowledge. It is people like you who will inspire the next generation to love the Forest. Friends of DuPont Forest welcomed many new faces in 2018! From new volunteers, to new sponsors and donors, Friends of DuPont Forest is 550+ members strong and growing. Our members care deeply about protecting DuPont Forest. It is the place they go to seek adventure, take a walk in the woods, spend time with their kids, unwind, explore, challenge themselves. Together, we are a strong advocate for the Forest. You could say we speak for the trees. From water quality, to trails, to public safety, to wildlife, we campaign for policies and investment that protect and conserve the Forest.
