Some of you are already using the 2020 Vision: Called to Holiness Capital Campaign envelope. Everyone who receives envelopes has the capability of contributing once a month. For those who have pledged, just use the envelopes that fit in with your frequency of payment throughout the year.

For everyone else, use this envelope as you would any other envelope. This contribution goes to the Capital Campaign only. Please note that this is a different fund from the Maintenance Fund so do not use the Maintenance envelopes for the Capital Campaign and vice-versa. See below for on-line giving. Call the Parish Office (301) 292-0527 for any questions or for more information about the Capital Campaign. Thank you!

The Sodality of Our Lady of Perpetual Help has three tickets remaining for the Sight and Sound Theater presentation of “Jesus”, on Wednesday, May 23rd, in Lancaster, PA. The tickets are $65.00 per person. We will be car

pooling from the Church parking lot at 7:00 a.m.. Lulu can be reached by email [email protected] if interested, or you can call her at 301-922-4917. Please let her know if you’d like to drive or ride with others. Thank you.

St. Mary’s of Piscataway 2020 Vision: Called To Holiness Capital Campaign—Thank you, very much for your generous response to “Pledge Weekend,’ for our Capital Campaign. It brought us close to halfway home to our upper-end goal of $1 million in terms of pledges, and we’ve “banked” more than ten per cent of our goal thus far. We had a very productive meeting of our Project Management Task Force and are already getting to work on our Media Center, Parking lot, Rectory/Pantry Roof, Main Church cooling tower, Multi-Purpose building, and Chapel doors. Of course, before hammers meet nails we have to procure bids and tend to logistics, but the sound of industrial-strength music should be in the air very soon. Please keep the contributions coming. I’ll keep you up to date on where we are. In Jesus the Lord, Fr. Baer

MAY 6, 2018 6TH SUNDAY OF EASTER

http://www.loyolapress.com/our-catholic-faith/liturgical-year/sunday-connection

In family life, we have many opportunities to show love in action. Each time we postpone a task to tend to the needs of another, we show ourselves to be on the path to following the example of love shown to us by Jesus. Sometimes the sacrifices we are called upon to make for others are small. But these small choices to love and to serve others prepare us for the larger choices and sacrifices that we may be called upon to make. If we are people who have practiced showing our love for others with generosity, we will also be people who are willing to lay down our lives for those we love.

As you gather as a family, talk about the meaning of the word generosity. Ask each family member to describe an action that shows generosity. To be generous is to give freely to others without counting the cost. Recall that generosity is one of the Fruits of the Holy Spirit. Introduce today’s Gospel reading by saying that Jesus taught us to be generous in showing our love for one another. Read together today’s Gospel, John 15:9-17. What examples did Jesus give to us that show this kind of love? (washing his disciples’ feet; accepting death on the cross) Jesus helps us to show this kind of love to others. In today’s Gospel, Jesus promised that God will give us whatever we ask for. One of the things we can ask for from God is a generous spirit so that we can love others as Jesus did. Conclude in prayer together. Prayer for Generosity

Lord Jesus, teach me to be generous; teach me to serve you as you deserve,

to give and not to count the cost,

to fight and not to heed the wounds,

to toil and not to seek for rest,

to labor and not to seek reward,

except that of knowing that I do your will.

Amen.
