Sustainable solutions

Our goal is to create value through our focus on efficiency and

sustainability. We achieve this by applying best practice,

employing a motivated workforce and adopting continuously

updated technology. We believe that the sustainable approach

can only be achieved through integration of social, economical

and environmental factors.

Roadbridge has stated sustainability targets, intended to

minimise the impact of our works upon both the green and built

environment. This also forms part of the selection criteria for our

supply chain partners.

Examples of sustainability include the use of onsite batching

plants, re-designing earthworks to achieve balance and avoid

import/export, installation of sustainable drainage systems and

recycling of ‘grey’ water.

All of our UK projects are registered under the Considerate

Constructor Scheme. Our most recent assessments, on the M9

Forth Replacement Crossing and Whitelee Windfarm, scored

36.5/40 and 35/40 respectively, placing them in the top 10% of

sites throughout the UK, according to the published statistics by

the scheme.

We promote social and economic sustainability by:

• Employment opportunities

• Local procurement of goods and services

• Use of local contractors, especially for haulage

• Assisting in client public relations works

• Promoting the energy and engineering industry to students

Roadbridge have recently won a CEEQUAL Award (Civil

Engineering Environmental Quality Assessment and Award

Scheme), for the work on the Laggan Tormore Gas Terminal

Earthworks Contract, where Total E&P UK Ltd were the Client, and

are involved in further UK projects that have been registered with

the scheme and will be assessed during 2012-2013.

These awards offer proof of our commitment to Sustainability.
