STUDENT TRANSFER REQUEST ASSESSMENT POLICY
1. Overseas students are restricted from transferring from their principal course of study for a period ofsixmonths.Thisrestrictionalsoappliestoanycourse(s)packagedwiththeirprincipalcourseof study.
2. Studentscanapplyforaletterofreleasetoenablethemtotransfertoanothereducationprovider. StudentsarerequestedtocompleteanApplicationforStudentTransfer/LetterofRelease.
3. StMaryStaroftheSeaCollegewillonlyprovidealetterofreleasetostudentsinthefirstsixmonths of their principal course in the following circumstances:
• Thestudenthaschangedwelfareandaccommodationarrangementsandisnolongerwithin areasonabletravellingtimeoftheschool;• Ithasbeenagreedbytheschoolthatthestudentwouldbebetterplacedinacoursethatis notavailableatStMaryStaroftheSeaCollege;• Therearenounpaidcoursefeesforthecurrentstudyperiod;• Any other reason stated in the policies of St Mary Star of the Sea College.
4. StMaryStaroftheSeaCollegewillNOTprovidealetterofreleasetostudentsinthefirstsixmonths of their principal course in the following circumstances:
• Thestudent’sprogressislikelytobeacademicallydisadvantaged;• StMary’sCollegeisconcernedthatthestudent’sapplicationtotransferisaconsequenceof theadverseinfluenceofanotherparty;• Thestudentisunder18yearsofageandthereisnowrittenevidencethatthestudent’s parentssupportthetransfer;• ornowrittenconfirmationthatthenewproviderwillacceptresponsibilityforapprovingthe student’saccommodation,supportandgeneralwelfarearrangements.
5. Inordertoapplyforaletterofrelease,studentsmusthave:• Writtenevidencethatthestudent’sparent(s)/legalguardiansupportsthetransfer;• Aletterfromthereceivingproviderthatavalidofferofenrolmenthasbeenmade.
6. Studentsunder18yearsofageMUSTalsohave;• Writtenconfirmationthatthenewproviderwillacceptresponsibilityforapprovingthe student’saccommodation,support,andgeneralwelfarearrangementsfrom7daysafterthe student’sofficiallastdayatStMaryStaroftheSeaCollegeor• EvidencethatthestudentisalwaysinDIACapprovedwelfareandaccommodation arrangements.
7. Allapplicationsfortransferwillbeconsideredwithinten(10)workingdaysandtheapplicant notifiedofthedecision.
8. Students whose request for transfer has been refused may appeal the decision in accordance with StMary’sInternationalStudentProgramComplaintsandAppealsPolicy.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE
Anapplicationforstudenttransfer/letterofreleaseistobemadeusingtheApplicationforStudentTransfer/LetterofReleaseform.
Thefollowingmustaccompanytheapplicationform:• ALetterofOfferfromtheinstitutiontowhichthestudentwishestotransfer.• Ifthestudentisunder18yearsofagetheLetterofOffermustalsoshowthattheinstitution willacceptresponsibilityforapprovingaccommodation,supportandgeneralwelfare arrangements for the student.• Ifthereareanygapsbetweenschoolapprovedaccommodation,supportandgeneral welfarearrangements,detailsofanyDIACapprovedinterimarrangementsshouldbe provided.• TheapplicationmustbesubmittedtotheDirectorofAdmissionsforconsideration.• Theapplicationwillbeconsideredwithinten(10)workingdays.• Thestudentwillbeadvisedinwritingoftheoutcomeoftheirapplication.
