TheFellowship
Therearenocurrentglobalstandardsoftraining,practiceandlevelofcareforpatientswithneoplasmsoftheHeadandNeck.Therearesignificantvariationsinthequalityandlevelsofcareinvariousgeographiclocationsintheworld.Thegoaloftheglobalonlinefellowshipistocreateaprogramtoteachandtrainyoungsurgeonsandtesttheirknowledgeandthoughtprocesses,throughwhichrelativeuniformityofknowledgebaseandjudgmentaremeasuredandcertifiedforspecialists,throughonlineeducationwithcontinuousupdatingandmonitoringoftheirknowledgebase.
Thefellowshipwillinvolveacommitmentof2yearsofselflearningthroughastructuredcoursecurriculum,withperiodiconlineexaminationsastheprogramprogresses,untilcompletion.DuringthecourseoftheFellowshipthecandidateswillembarkupona1monthobservershipandatthecompletionofthecurriculumappearforanoralexaminationbeforeaninternationalpanelofexaminers.Uponsuccessfulcompletionoftheoralexaminationacertificatewillbeissuedrecognizingthesatisfactorycompletionofthecoursecurriculum,andpassingtheexamination.
Suchcertificationwillensurethatthecandidateshaveacquiredanestablishedglobalstandardofcoreknowledge,andmaturedtheirjudgmentprocessthroughselfeducationandsuccessfulcompletionofallexaminations.

1. AminimumoffiveyearsofsurgicaltrainingfollowingcompletionofmedicalschoolandBoardcertification(orequivalent)inthespecialtyofgeneralsurgery,otolaryngology,plasticsurgery,orsimilarfieldintheircountry.
2. CurrentengagementinHeadandNeckSurgerytrainingorpractice.
3. CertificationandletterofsupportfromtheHeadoftheinstitutionwherethecandidateconductshis/herclinicalactivitiesindicatingacommitmentbythecandidatetothespecialtyofheadandnecksurgeryandoncology,andcurrentnatureandtenureofemployment.
4. Acompletelistofoperativeproceduresperformedduringtheprecedingyearshowingasignificantproportion(over50%)ofheadandneckcancer/tumorcases,wherethecandidatewaseithertheoperatingsurgeonorfirstassistant.
5. PersonalstatementindicatingcommitmentbythecandidatetocompletetheFellowshipandfuturecareergoalstoutilizetheknowledgegainedthroughthisFellowship.
