    Overview This document describes the new features, enhancements, and fixes included in Verizon test suites LTE-RA package revision A25 and provides the installation and configuration instructions.

    NOTE: This Verizon test suites LTE-RA package contains two separate installers that run on two different versions of Spirent 8100 Mobile Device Test System Radio Access: LTE. The updated Verizon LTE-RA test suites require Spirent 8100 Mobile Device Test System Radio Access: LTE version 10.1.0. (These updated test suites comply with the Verizon June 2020 test plan.) The "maintenance" test suites require Spirent 8100 Mobile Device Test System Radio Access: LTE version 7.0.0.

    NOTE: To run the Verizon VoWiFi test cases, you MUST have a Spirent B+Q configuration. The B+Q configuration contains the following components: - a WTS122-UR running Spirent Elevate® software version 1.40.11 - an E2010S - an SC10 running LTE-RA version 10.1.0 - a Spirent data client laptop - a switch

    Enhancements and Fixes The following enhancements and fixes have been made in this release.

    Prerequisites Before installing the test suites, make sure:

    • Spirent 8100 Mobile Device Test System Radio Access: LTE version 10.1.0 is installed and activated on the SC10 if you want to run Verizon LTE RA test suites. To install LTE version 10.1.0, see Spirent 8100 Mobile Device Test System Radio Access: LTE Version 10.1.0 System Deployment Instructions, 71-008919, Version A0.

    • You have a 20 GB external USB drive to which you will download the test suites installer and Elevate software version 1.40.11 for the WTS122-UR from the Spirent Customer Service Center.

    Software Download Instructions Perform the following steps: 1. Connect the external 20 GB USB drive to your PC. 2. Log into the Spirent Customer Service Center website at http://support.spirent.com using

    the e-mail address and password assigned to you by Spirent. 3. On the Customer Service Center page, click the Downloads tab.

    The Spirent Downloads page appears. 4. From the Release Type box, select Controlled Release. 5. From the Product Line box, select 8100 Test Packs. 6. In the Categories area, check the Verizon check box. 7. Download the following software:

    VZW LTE-RA Test Suites Controlled Release, vA25 for Windows 8. Using a zip application such as 7-Zip, extract the zipped file to the external USB drive. 9. After the file is extracted, perform the following steps to download Elevate software version

    1.40.11 for the WTS122-UR. a. On the Spirent Downloads page, select Controlled Release from the Release Type box. b. From the Product Line box, select Wireless. c. In the Categories area, check the WTS check box. d. Download WTS122-UR v1.40.11 for VM Image. e. Using Windows Explorer, copy the .tar file you downloaded from the Spirent Customer

    Service Center web site to the USB drive. 10. Disconnect the external USB drive from your PC. 11. Perform one of the following steps: If you want to run the updated test cases for Verizon RCS, IMS, hVoLTE, CDMA-IRAT,

    and VoWiFi, go to the section “Installation Instructions for Updated Test Suites” on page 11.

    If you want to run test cases for the maintenance test suites, go to the section “Installation Instructions for Maintenance Test Suites” on page 20.

    Installation Instructions for Updated Test Suites This section describes how to install and configure the following updated Verizon test suites:

    • RCS

    • IMS

    • hVoLTE

    • CDMA-IRAT

    • VoWiFi

    NOTE: To run the Verizon VoWiFi test cases, you MUST have a Spirent B+Q configuration. The B+Q configuration contains the following components: - a WTS122-UR running Elevate software version 1.40.11 - an E2010S - an SC10 running LTE-RA version 10.1.0 - a Spirent data client laptop - a switch

    To install and configure these test suites, you must perform the following steps: 1. Install the test suites on the Controller PC. 2. Install Elevate software version 1.40.11 on the WTS122-UR (for the VoWiFi test suite). 3. Verify the connection for the external attenuator (for the VoWiFi test suite). 4. Configure Verizon RCS test case 5.27.

    Step 1: Install the Test Suites Perform the following steps: 1. Access the 8100 Services Management Utility on the SC10. 2. Activate the LTE RA 10.1.0 personality. 3. Connect the USB drive to an available USB 2.0 port on the SC10. 4. On the SC10, log into the Controller PC. 5. Using Windows Explorer, copy the folder containing the Verizon test suites (VZW LTE-RA

    Test Suites vA25) to the D: drive on the Controller PC. 6. Go to the folder D:\VZW LTE-RA Test Suites vA25\For LTE-RA v10.1.0. 7. Double-click on the file setup.exe.

    The Spirent License Agreement dialog box appears.

    8. Read the license agreement, and click the Accept button if you agree to the terms of the license agreement. The Verizon test suites installation starts. The VZW LTE-RA Test Suites window shows the status of the installation. When the installation is complete, the Installation Summary window appears.

    9. Close the Installation Summary window.

    Step 2: Install Elevate Software Version 1.40.11 on the WTS122-UR Perform this procedure if you want to run the VoWiFi test suite.

    NOTE: If you already installed Elevate software version 1.40.11 on the WTS122-UR, skip this section.

    Perform the following steps: 1. Connect the external USB drive to any available USB port on the WTS122-UR EXCEPT the

    USB port for ProLab. The following figure shows the location of the USB port for ProLab on the WTS122-UR..

    2. Access the 8100 Services Management Utility on the SC10. 3. In the 8100 Services Management Utility, click the Tools button.

    The Tools page appears. 4. In the WTS Interfaces area, click the Open Management Utility button.

    A new browser tab appears and displays the WTS Instrument Management Utility.

    5. Click the SOFTWARE INSTALLATION button. The Software Installation page appears.

    6. In the Select a software channel area, click the Search removable media for software channels button. The Operation Results area displays the message that it is searching removable media for WTS software. When the process is complete, the message Success: 1 channel(s) added appears in the Operation Results area, and the message Operation Complete appears at the bottom of the page.

    7. Click the Return to Management Window button. The URL for the local channel containing the .tar file appears in the bottom row of the table in the Select a software channel area.

    8. In the Select a software channel area, click the Enable button for the channel you added (for example, WTSLocal1). The software components from the .tar file of the channel you selected appear in the table in the Software release available from selected software channel area. The Install button appears for each software component.

    9. In the Software releases available from selected software channel area, click the Install button for Elevate-WTS Release Version 1.40.11. A dialog box appears, prompting you to confirm that you want to install the selected software package.

    10. Click the OK button. 11. If a message box appears stating that the instrument will restart when the installation is

    complete, click the OK button. The upgrade process begins. The upgrade process may take up to 10 minutes. During this process, the WTS Instrument Management Utility displays the operation results.

    WARNING! Do not refresh the browser or power down the WTS122-UR during the upgrade process.

    When the upgrade is complete, the WTS122-UR restarts. 12. Close the browser tab for the WTS Instrument Management Utility window. 13. Disconnect the external USB drive from the rear panel of the WTS122-UR.

    Step 3: Verify the Connection for the External Attenuator Perform this procedure if you want to run the VoWiFi test suite.

    NOTE: If you already verified the connection for the external attenuator, skip this section.

    In the current release, only the Mini Circuits RCDAT-6000-90 external attenuator is supported. This is a programmable Wi-Fi attenuator that is part of the Spirent Wi-Fi Power Level kit for the WTS122 and SC10. The external attenuator device is connected to attenuate the Wi-Fi power reaching the DUT. This is carried out to achieve proper handover between LTE and Wi-Fi networks as required in the test plan specification. Make sure the external attenuator is connected to the correct USB port on the rear panel of the WTS122-UR. The following figure shows the location of the correct USB port on the rear panel of the WTS122-UR for the external attenuator.

    Step 4: Configure Verizon RCS Test Case 5.27 Perform this procedure if you want to run Verizon RCS test case 5.27.

    NOTE: If you already configured Verizon RCS test case 5.27, skip this section.

    Verizon RCS test case 5.27 requires a custom IP address in Simple DNS Plus. Before running this test case you must create the custom IP address in Simple DNS Plus. After test case 5.27 is executed, you must then delete the custom IP address in Simple DNS Plus.

    NOTE: You MUST perform the following steps before you run RCS test case 5.27.

    Perform the following steps: 1. Before running Verizon RCS test case 5.27, perform the following steps to configure the

    custom IP address in Simple DNS Plus: a. On the Controller PC, click on the Start button, and select

    All Programs > Simple DNS Plus > Simple DNS Plus. The spirent-win7 - Simple DNS Plus window appears.

    b. Click the Records button located at the top of the window. The spirent-win7-DNS Records window appears.

    c. In the Zones pane, select wo.vzwwo.com as shown in the following figure.

    d. Right-click on wo.vzwwo.com and select New A-record (Host Address). The New A-record dialog box appears.

    e. In the Host IP address box, type 192.168.0.121. f. Click the OK button. g. Click the Save button at the top of the window. h. Close the spirent-win7 – DNS Records window. i. Close the spirent-win7 – Simple DNS Plus window.

    2. Perform the following steps to configure the file dnsmasq.conf: a. On the SC 10, access the 8100 Management Utility. b. Press and hold the CTRL + ALT + X keys to access the terminal window. c. At the Password prompt in the terminal window, type aMP#JANH and press the ENTER

    key. The command prompt sh-4.2# appears.

    d. Type vi /etc/dnsmasq.conf and press ENTER key. The dnsmasq.conf file appears.

    e. Search for the line address=/WO.VZWWO.COM/192.168.0.177. f. Below that line add the entry address=/WO.VZWWO.COM/192.168.0.121. g. Press the ESC key, type :qw and then press the ENTER key to save and close the file. h. At the command prompt, type exit and press the ENTER key. i. Access the Controller PC.

    3. Run RCS test case 5.27. 4. After RCS test case 5.27 is executed, perform the following steps to delete the custom IP

    address in Simple DNS Plus:

    NOTE: You MUST perform the following steps after you run RCS test case 5.27. Leaving the custom IP address in Simple DNS Plus will impact other test cases.

    a. On the Controller PC, click on the Start button, and select All Programs > Simple DNS Plus > Simple DNS Plus. The spirent-win7 - Simple DNS Plus window appears.

    b. Click the Records button located at the top of the window. The spirent-win7-DNS Records window appears.

    c. In the Zones pane, select wo.vzwwo.com as shown in the following figure.

    d. Right click on the entry 192.168.0.121 and select Delete as shown in the following figure.

    e. Click the Save button at the top of the window. f. Close the spirent-win7 – DNS Records window. g. Close the spirent-win7 – Simple DNS Plus window.

    Installation Instructions for Maintenance Test Suites This section describes how to install and configure the following maintenance test suites:

    • VoLTE 1xRTT Fallback

    • VoIP-VT PERF

    • Data Throughput

    • LTE CDMA Mobility

    • Stress

    • RF Compliance

    NOTE: The maintenance test suites require Spirent 8100 Mobile Device Test System Radio Access: LTE Version 7.0.0.

    To install the maintenance test suites, perform the following steps: 1. Make sure all the test equipment (for example, E2010S and the Data Client laptop) is

    powered on. 2. Access the 8100 Services Management Utility on the SC10. 3. Activate the LTE RA 7.0.0 personality. 4. Connect the USB drive to an available USB 2.0 port on the SC10. 5. On the SC10, log into the Controller PC. 6. Copy the folder containing the Verizon test suites (VZW LTE-RA Test Suite vA25) to the

    D: drive on the Controller PC. 7. Using Windows Explorer, go to the folder D:\VZW LTE-RA Test Suites vA25\For LTE-RA

    v7.0.0. 8. Double-click on the file setup.exe.

    The Spirent License Agreement dialog box appears. 9. Read the license agreement, and click the Accept button if you agree to the terms of the

    license agreement. The test suites are installed. When the installation is complete, the Installation Summary window appears.

    10. Close the Installation Summary window.

    Running TestDrive II CDMA Test Suites or Using Standalone AirAccess C2K Perform the procedure in this section if you want to:

    • run TestDrive II CDMA test suites, or

    • use standalone AirAccess C2K In this procedure, you will install a Landslide version that was verified extensively with AirAccess C2K. Perform the following steps: 1. Access the 8100 Services Management Utility on the SC10, and activate the LTE RA 10.1.0

    personality. 2. On the Controller PC desktop, double-click on the AirAccess C2K icon.

    The AirAccess C2K window appears. 3. Select File > Install Instrument Firmware.

    The Select Instruments To Update dialog box appears.

    By default, the SR3600 check box is NOT selected. 4. Uncheck the SR3452 check box. 5. Uncheck the SR3462 check box. 6. Check the SR3600 check box downgrade Landslide. 7. Click the Start Update button.

    The SR3600 Instrument window appears. 8. Wait for the installation to complete. 9. If a window appears prompting you to turn the instrument off and power the instrument on

    again, follow the instructions to restart the instrument and close the window.

    10. Run the CDMA test suites. 11. When you are finished running the CDMA test suites or using standalone AirAccess C2K,

    access the 8100 Services Management Utility on the SC10, and reactivate the LTE RA 10.1.0 personality. When you reactivate the LTE RA 10.1.0 personality, the system uses the version of Landslide version that was provided for the LTE test suites.

    Known Issues This section describes the software-related known issues in this release.

    Data Throughput - LTE The following issues are applicable to the Data Throughput LTE test packs.

    Product LTE - Data Throughput Description Maximum throughput rates greater than 25 Mbps are not achieved on FTP

    over IPv6 when a Windows 7 Data Client laptop is NOT used.

    Impact Test case fails due to lower data throughput. Workaround You must use a Data Client laptop running Windows 7. Disposition If your Data Client laptop is not running the Windows 7 operating system,

    contact Spirent Support for details on how to upgrade the software.

    Product LTE - Data Throughput Description When specifying LTE mode as combined mode in the platform configuration

    with systems that have an SR5500M Channel Emulator, you may observe low RSTP.

    Impact The test case may fail due to lower RSTP. Workaround You must use a Dedicated Mode platform configuration to achieve

    maximum RSTP range across all band classes when the system includes an SR5500M Channel Emulator. This restriction is unnecessary for systems that do not include an SR5500M Channel Emulator.

    Disposition There are currently no plans to change the implementation. Use the workaround specified above.

    Product LTE - Data Throughput Description On rare occasions, during session runs that are longer than 12 hours, L1

    and L2 logging stops running with the error message MassiveDataFilter stop working.

    Impact There is no impact to the test case execution. Workaround Ignore the warning and continue the test. The test results will be valid. Disposition There are currently no plans to change the implementation.

    Product LTE - Data Throughput Description If the test case is not using the Advanced Channel Model, and the

    SR5500M Channel Emulator is used, channel impairments are not applied correctly.

    Impact This issue affects the channel impairment requirement for test cases not using the Advanced Channel Model. Data throughput may be affected, especially in cases of low SNR values.

    Workaround Test cases not requiring the Advanced Channel Model MUST be executed without the SR5500M platform file. Make sure the primary and secondary SR5500M instruments are set to FALSE in the platform file.

    Disposition There are currently no plans to change the implementation. Use the workaround specified above.

    Product LTE - Data Throughput Description The MTU size must be increased to support ping with large packets for

    section 2.4 test cases. Impact Test case execution is not impacted. It only impacts L3 log collection. Workaround For section 2.4, you must manually configure the L3 log parameters to ping

    with large packets. Press the CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+B keys before starting call processing (after CS8 Interactive Tester connection), and then set S1U MTU Buffer Size to 3000.

    Disposition There are currently no plans to change the implementation. Use the workaround specified above.

    Product LTE - Data Throughput Description In the Verizon DT LTE B4 3.6.2.1 test case, there is an issue for contention

    resolution due to RLF and low throughput while running this test (5Hz, 10Hz, and 15Hz).

    Impact The test case fails. Workaround None. Disposition Spirent is targeting to fix this issue in a future release.

    CDMA - LTE Mobility The following issues are applicable to the CDMA – LTE Mobility test packs.

    Product CDMA - LTE Mobility Description Test cases 7.12, 8.7, 9.6, and 9.7 are implemented using Test Manager,

    unlike other test cases in the section which are implemented using Test Stand. As a result, you cannot run these 4 test cases with other test cases.

    Impact The test cases fail if they are selected to run combined with test cases that are implemented using Test Stand.

    Workaround Run these 4 test cases individually. Disposition There are currently no plans to fix this issue.

    Product CDMA - IRAT Description Cell reselection from eHRPD to LTE fails.

    Whenever the UE acquires LTE from eHRPD and sends a PDN connectivity request with Request type "Initial Request" instead of "handover," the test case fails. The result is EPS Attach failed with ESM cause 30 (request rejected by Serving GW or PDN GW).

    Impact The test case fails. Workaround None. Disposition Spirent is targeting to fix this issue in a future release.

    Product CDMA - IRAT Description In test case 7.9, the test fails to detect EVDO session close and fails on

    LCP counts. Impact The test case fails. Workaround None. Disposition Spirent is targeting to fix this issue in a future release.

    Verizon IMS VoIP The following issues are applicable to the IMS VoIP test packs.

    Product IMS VoIP Description If test case 3.8.11 is tested with a UE that sends the Re-Invite message as

    session refresh instead of the Update message, the IMS client will not handle it.

    Impact The test case fails. Workaround None. Disposition Spirent is targeting to fix this issue in a future release.

    Product IMS VoIP Description Test case 3.25 requires you to literally not take a break during the

    “non-silent” period of the test, which will result in transmitting silent packets. This causes the test case to fail.

    Impact The test case fails. Workaround Try not to be silent during the “non-silent” period of the test. Disposition Spirent is investigating a solution to this issue.

    Verizon LTE RCS The following issue is applicable to the LTE RCS test packs.

    Product RCS Description In the RCS section 5 ePDG test cases, there are failure issues due to RTP

    packets not encapsulated in the ePDG IP address and out of order messages "Wireshark Decoding Key Values" and "APN Requested at ePDG."

    Impact The test case fails. Workaround None. Disposition Spirent is targeting to fix this issue in a future release.

    Product RCS Description The user prompt to initiate a voice call and send SMS text does not contain

    the telephone number of the destination UE. Impact None. Workaround Dial a valid telephone number for the destination UE. Disposition Spirent is targeting to fix this issue in a future release.

    Product RCS Description The test case may fail due to the UE attempt to connect ePDG using the

    correct ipv4 address failed. Impact The test case fails. Workaround Check and delete the Simple DNS tool IP address 192.168.0.121 as

    described in the section "Step 3: Configure Verizon RCS Test Case 5.27." Disposition Spirent is targeting to fix this issue in a future release.

    Verizon 1xRTT Fallback SRLTE and hVoLTE The following issues are applicable to Verizon 1xRTT Fallback SRLTE and hVoLTE.

    Product LTE hVoLTE Description When you try to run LTE hVoLTE test cases, you receive an error message

    stating that you are missing feature ID CS8-DEVLIB-UI password. Impact You are unable to run hVoLTE test cases. Workaround Contact Spirent Support to receive the CS8-DEVLIB-UI password. Disposition Spirent is targeting to fix this issue in a future release.

    Product Verizon 1xRTT Fallback SRLTE hVoLTE Description User input is time critical when executing MO Call and MO SMS. Impact The test case fails due to user input not being received in a timely manner. Workaround You must perform user actions as per the test case instructions in a timely

    manner (that is, within 30 seconds of when the User interaction dialog box appears) to ensure the proper execution of the test cases.

    Disposition Spirent is targeting to simplify the user interaction with the system in a future release.

    Verizon VoIP - VT Performance The following issues are applicable to the Verizon VoIP-VT Performance test packs.

    Product Verizon VoIP VT Performance Description If the UE screen has overlapping buttons on video, the MOS score is lower

    or fails to be evaluated. Impact The test case fails due to poor MOS score. Workaround In some cases, you may be required to customize the video playback size

    for the device under test to avoid overlapping. See the following figure:

    Disposition Spirent does not plan to fix this issue. Follow the workaround described above.

    Product Verizon VoIP VT Performance Description On rare occasions, an exception "Requested Service is not found" is

    displayed in Test Manager. Impact The test case fails. Workaround Restart Test Manager, and re-run the test case. Disposition Spirent is targeting to fix this issue in a future release.

    Product Verizon VoIP VT Performance Description For test cases 3.1.1.1 to 3.1.1.5, the audio delay measurement is incorrect.

    Impact The test case fails. Workaround None. Disposition Spirent is targeting to fix this issue in a future release.

    Verizon Carrier Aggregation Data Throughput The following issues are applicable to Verizon Carrier Aggregation Data Throughput test packs.

    Product Verizon Carrier Aggregation Data Throughput Description The instantaneous throughput chart line is not smooth due to the short

    throughput polling interval of 100 milliseconds. Impact The instantaneous throughput graph looks a little choppy. There is no

    impact to the test case execution or results. Workaround None. Disposition There are currently no plans to fix this issue.

    Product Verizon Carrier Aggregation Data Throughput Description The CQI chart does not show the transfer number in the drop-down list

    properly. Impact This issue is due to the screen not refreshing properly and does not impact

    the test result. Workaround The chart needs to be reloaded by using the Test Manager pull down option

    to refresh and properly show the transfer number. Disposition There are currently no plans to fix this issue.

    Product Verizon Carrier Aggregation Data Throughput Description For all test cases, the step to add a second cell fails on rare occasions. Impact The test case fails. Workaround Re-run the test case. Disposition Spirent is targeting to fix this issue in a future release.

    Verizon 20 MHz Data Throughput Band 4 The following issue is applicable to the Verizon 20 MHz Data Throughput Band 4 test packs.

    Product Verizon 20 MHz Data Throughput Band 4 Description Support for embedded mode is not available. Impact Embedded mode testing is not available. Workaround Run all test cases in tethered mode only. Disposition Spirent is targeting to fix this issue in a future release.

    LTE-RA Platform The following issues are applicable to the LTE-RA platform.

    Product Spirent AT Control Description On rare occasions, the COM port of the UE can become locked. Impact Test Manager may freeze during test execution. Workaround If this issue occurs, you must remove and reconnect the UE. Disposition There are currently no plans to fix this issue. Use the workaround specified

    above.

    Product Spirent AT Control Description On rare occasions, Spirent AT control freezes if the UE does not respond.

    Impact Test Manager may freeze during a test session that is more than 10 hours. Workaround If this issue occurs, reboot the PC or virtual machine. Disposition There are currently no plans to fix this issue. Use the workaround specified

    above.

    Product Calibration Description Attempting to abort calibration causes Test Manager to freeze.

    Impact Test Manager may freeze and become unresponsive during calibration. Workaround In the event you click the Abort button accidentally during the system

    calibration procedure, reboot the PC or virtual machine. Disposition There are currently no plans to fix this issue. Use the workaround specified

    above.

    Product Test Case Results Display Description While running test cases in batch mode, if a test case execution is aborted,

    Test Manager displays the result of all previously executed test cases as "aborted," irrespective of the actual result (Pass/Fail).

    Impact The result of a test case is displayed incorrectly. Workaround Re-run the test case. Disposition Spirent is targeting to fix this issue in a future release.

    Product IMS Client Description If you want to run tests on an LTE-RA platform version earlier than 7.0.0,

    do NOT change the version of the IMS Client on the Data Client laptop. Impact If you “downgrade” the IMS Client on the Data Client laptop, a Create IMS

    failure occurs, or the IMS Client crashes. The IMS Client cannot be used further. The following figure shows the Create IMS Client Failed error message in Test Manager.
