Rotary Club of Magill Sunrise Page | 1 For me, and I am sure all members at our meeting Tuesday, felt an air of excitement as we inducted our first new member for the year with Colin Hill. A big member turn out made sure this was a special occasion and Bronny was only too happy to make sure we welcomed Colin into the madding crowd in an appropriate manner. Colin comes to us from the defence industry and has been appointed the vocation of Project Manager. I am sure he will fit into the club quickly with his previous friendships at the club, and we look forward to seeing him become a valuable contributing member at all our fundraising projects and initiatives. Next Brenton challenged us with 10 questions of his Christmas Quiz, which if I remember correctly, the winning table only got 5 correct answers, so maybe a little easier next time quizmaster. I don’t know about you but I had never heard of Saint Stephen’s Day. Although a little difficult I have to thank Brenton for getting the quiz together on short notice and for also organizing the induction again on very short notice.

For me, and I am sure all members at our meeting Tuesday, felt an air of excitement as we inducted

our first new member for the year with Colin Hill. A big member turn out made sure this was a

special occasion and Bronny was only too happy to make sure we welcomed Colin into the madding

crowd in an appropriate manner. Colin comes to us from the defence industry and has been

appointed the vocation of Project Manager. I am sure he will fit into the club quickly with his

previous friendships at the club, and we look forward to seeing him become a valuable contributing

member at all our fundraising projects and initiatives.

Next Brenton challenged us with 10 questions of his Christmas Quiz, which if I remember correctly,

the winning table only got 5 correct answers, so maybe a little easier next time quizmaster. I don’t

know about you but I had never heard of Saint Stephen’s Day. Although a little difficult I have to

thank Brenton for getting the quiz together on short notice and for also organizing the induction

again on very short notice.

Santa (who surprisingly looked and sounded a lot like Gary) made a quick visit to the club with

much Christmas cheer and a chockie for all the good boys and girls...is that why he tried to avoid

me?....I must have been bad this year...hehehe!! While on the topic of Santa’s look alike, I must

give a huge thanks to Gary and Leonie for all their efforts making sure we are fed every Tuesday

morning with the most amazing spread. Without their efforts and support our morning meetings

just would not be the same.

Sergeant Kirsty kept the fun rolling with a games idea she had on the way to the meeting. We had

to stand in a circle and sing a single word from a Christmas carol keeping the song going around the

circle. Not easy if you:

1. Can’t Sing

2. Don’t know the words to many songs let alone Christmas Carols

Ronda won the game and was the collector of all fines, of which there were quite a few so well

done on the game and fines Sergeant Kirsty.

Sunday’s Picnic in the Park had a good roll up, despite a number of conflicting Christmas events.

Mari Thompson managed to feign surprise when she got in early and selected her own cringle with

the comment, ‘I’ve always wanted one of these’.

Lastly, I would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a safe and happy New Year. I look

forward to seeing you all again on January the 8th

.

The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of a worthy enterprise and in particular to encourage and foster

The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service.

High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying by every Rotarian of their occupation as an opportunity to serve

society.

The application of the ideal service by every Rotarian to their personal, business and community life.

The advancement of international understanding, goodwill and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional people united in the ideal of service.

The Four Way Test of the things we think, say or do:

Is it the truth? Is it Fair to all concerned?

Will it build goodwill and better friendships? Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

For good food, good fellowship And the opportunity to serve through Rotary

…we give thanks.
