appears on each tour brochure to indicate the activity level you can expect. A written description
is also provided. In addition, on Activity Level 3 tours, every customer must sign a statement that
he/she understands that the tour has lots of activity and is capable of handling it. Tours with Activi-
ty Level 1 or 2 have the following statement on the brochure:

Wells Gray Tours is proud to provide the Tour 25 travel experience.
Tours indicated by this icon on our website and brochures are Tour 25 departures, meaning group
capacity is a maximum 25 participants or less. This allows Wells Gray Tours to create a more person-
al, flexible and authentic experience, which is perfect for many destinations. Travelling in smaller
groups allows us to access exciting new places and to offer more up close, personal and unique
encounters. It is one more way we are working to meet your evolving travelling preferences.

WELLS GRAY TOURS IS GIVING BACK
Pledge a Pencil - Sharpen a Future
As many of you know, last November Kerrie Niemeier from our Kelowna Office had the opportunity
of a lifetime to travel to Tanzania with Tanzania Journeys & Wells Gray Tours Ltd. A remarkable and
humbling experience.
While there, she had the opportunity to visit The Lake Natron School in the Engaruka Village. The
school has 595 students and 9 teachers. They do not have any writing books, pencils or pens for the
children. She had a pen in her backpack and gave it to one of the young girls. The young girl em-
braced her and did not want to let go as tears ran down her face. This is when Kerrie realized small
things really can make a big difference. This small tool can help children acquire skills, values, be-
liefs and habits.
Thank you so much to everyone who has already donated. We will be accepting donations until
October 31st. If you have any school supplies i.e. paper notebooks, pencils, erasers, pencil crayons,
& pens, please bring them with you to the Fall Travel Shows. All of the supplies will be shipped to
The Lake Natron School at the beginning of November.
Coming Soon! Tanzania October, 2017!

NEW YEAR’S IN VANCOUVER $795 pp double $945 single
December 31, 2016 — 3 days 13 Seats left!
Start the new year right with two shows and two nights at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver.
The Music Man — Meredith Willson’s original show in 1957 became a Broadway hit and won 5 Tony
Awards including Best Musical. This nostalgic family show begins when con man Harold Hill arrives in
a small Iowa town, singing empty promises about starting a glorious marching band. Romantic and
clever, The Music Man is a heart-warming story about personal redemption and the power of a big
brass band.
Salute to Vienna has been billed as the world’s greatest New Year’s concert. For over 60 years, the
Vienna Philharmonic's “Neujahrskonzert” broadcast has thrilled 1.2 billion people annually around
the globe – a joyous celebration of the musical legacy of Johann Strauss Jr. In 1995, concert pro-
ducers, Attila and Marion Glatz, presented their first Salute to Vienna in Toronto and it was modelled
carefully after the original. Now, 22 years later, the show has become a New Year's tradition in North
America featuring glorious music performed by the Vancouver Symphony with an outstanding cast
of 75 musicians, singers and dancers. The show is staged almost simultaneously in 21 cities through-
out Canada and the United States. We have reserved superb seats at the ornate Orpheum Theatre
in Right and Left Centre Orchestra Rows 11 to 16.
NEW YORK CITY $3380 pp double $4300 single
June 24, 2017 — 7 days discounts up to $180 pp
New York City, the city of icons. Empire State Building. Statue of Liberty. Rockefeller Center. Ameri-
can Museum of Natural History. Top of the Rock. Macy’s Fifth Avenue. Radio City Rockettes. Metro-
politan Museum of Art. Ground Zero. Central Park. Times Square. Wall Street. Broadway. The list of
familiar sights and experiences goes on and Wells Gray Tours is proud to take you there. The tour is
planned for late June, traditionally a quieter time for the city. Temperatures are warm, but not too
hot and humid. This tour has lots of choices. There is a balance of organized activities and free time
to help you maximize your exploration during your stay. We have included a two-day hop-on hop-
off all loop pass for double decker touring, a great way to get around the city and get insider infor-
mation as well. Your knowledgeable Wells Gray tour director is available to assist you with your
plans. The time is now – New York, New York!
SUMMER 2017 GETAWAYS! HOT OFF THE PRESS !
Experience history as you cross Canada by rail!
The railway in Canada is an integral and essential foundation for the country. When the last spike
was driven in the cross-country rail line on November 7, 1885 at Craigellachie, something truly mag-
nificent had been accomplished: Canada had been united. The railway was written into the agree-
ment of Confederation on that historic day when the Dominion of Canada was formed in 1867. The
railway was a condition of entry into Confederation by British Columbia and it was the common
thread that linked the vast spaces and diverse cultures of the grand new nation. Experience Cana-
da’s national railway on this epic journey from Vancouver on the Pacific coast to Halifax on the At-
lantic coast. Along the way, get to know the character of various parts of the nation, yet find that
element that makes us all uniquely Canadian. From the towering giants of the Rocky Mountains to
the sea of grass in the vast prairies; from the unique mix of cultures in Winnipeg and Montréal to the
Scottish influence in the Maritimes; from the awesome view at the CN Tower to the spectacle of Ni-
agara Falls — all aboard for the adventure of a lifetime!
Canada is 150 years old in 2017. Make this tour your celebration of the national birthday. Early book-
ing is recommended as this tour is limited to 40 travellers.
COAST TO COAST BY TRAIN $6750 pp double $7515 single

EXOTIC GETAWAYS
PORTUGAL & MOROCCO from $7795 pp double; from $8780 single March 3, 2017 — 21 days discounts up to $150 pp
This tour offers a unique combination of famous cities, historical attractions, sunny beaches, and ex-
otic Morocco. Portugal is the cradle of world exploration because, starting in the 15th century, its
captains and ships fanned out across the Atlantic to colonize new lands. Be awed by the centuries
of history in Lisbon, Sintra and Obidos. Stand on the westernmost point of Europe and gaze out to
the Atlantic. Relax on the beaches of the famous Algarve.
Southern Spain and Morocco are bound together by a chapter of history that lasted for more than
500 years. Within a few decades of the death of the Prophet Mohammed, the cavalry armies of his
heirs had galloped along the North African coast, subduing the Berber tribes of Morocco and
sweeping through Spain. Witness their rich legacy on both sides of the Strait of Gibraltar. History has
also left its mark here in striking contrast with modern features.
In the northwest corner of Africa lies the Kingdom of Morocco, one of the most exotic countries in
the world and a “must-see” destination for the international traveller. On this unique itinerary, experi-
ence the best of Morocco from the northern green belt with cities like Casablanca and Fez, to the
oases of Marrakech and Ouarzazate, the rugged Atlas Mountains, and the intriguing shopping in
souks. A highlight is riding a camel to a tall sand dune, then watching the sun rise over the vast ex-
panse of the Sahara Desert.

MEKONG RIVER CRUISE from $8695 pp double; from $11,625 single March 11, 2017 — 23 days discounts up to $150 pp
Fed by snowmelt from the Himalayas of Tibet, the Mekong flows 2,700 miles to the sea in South Vi-
etnam. The Vietnamese call it Song Cuu Long, the Nine Dragons River, for the nine branches of the
Mekong Delta where land and water intertwine to make perfect conditions for growing rice. On this
tour we visit bustling cities like Phnom Penh and Ho Chi Minh City as well as rural river towns such as
Tan Chau. Scenes of incredible beauty will delight the eye, from dazzling religious sites like the richly
detailed Angkor Wat to the Royal Palace. We board the luxurious boutique RV Mekong Prestige II in
Cambodia for the week-long voyage down the mighty Mekong River to Vietnam. Reminiscent in
design of the many French colonial-era manor homes that once lined the streets of old Saigon and
Phnom Penh, the 32 cabin RV Mekong Prestige II boasts a sophisticated yet comfortable design with
French balconies. After visiting Hanoi’s main attractions you will discover the coastal majesty of
Halong Bay, one of Vietnam’s most captivating natural wonders, on a two day cruise aboard a tra-
ditional junk boat and set sail over the shimmering waters of the bay to see over a thousand lime-
stone islands and mysterious caves. Our flight home is from Ho Chi Minh City to Shanghai where we
spend three days enjoying Suzhou, cruises on the Grand Canal and Huangpu River, The Bund, and
visit the Shanghai Museum and the Ming Dynasty Yuyuan Garden.

November 23, 2016 — 2 days 6 Seats left!
Celtic Thunder is composed of five male singers who perform both solo and ensemble numbers.
They are Neil Byne, Keith Harkin, Ryan Kelly, Damian McGinty, and Emmett O’Hanlon. Celtic Thunder
debuted in August 2007 in Dublin, Ireland, when they accompanied the Celtic Concert Orchestra.
Since the group's formation, Celtic Thunder has released 11 albums and the most recent was Celtic
Thunder: Celtic Roots, Myths & Legends in 2015. The group is known for its eclectic style with songs
ranging from a soloist to an ensemble focus. Their live shows feature dramatic effects via lighting
and choreography as well as a stage set resembling an ancient stone pathway suggestive of those
referenced in Celtic lore. Tour stays overnight at Quality Hotel in Abbotsford.
2016 & 2017 SHOW TOURS
KINKY BOOTS IN VANCOUVER $580 pp double $675 single
February 7, 2017 — 3 days 15 Seats left!
Enjoy two shows on this tour! Early booking is recommended as theatre seats are assigned in the or-
der that people book this tour.
Kinky Boots is a huge-hearted, high-heeled hit! With songs by Grammy and Tony-winning pop icon
Cyndi Lauper, this joyous musical celebration is about the friendships we discover, and the belief
that you can change the world when you change your mind. Inspired by true events, Kinky Boots
takes you from a gentlemen’s shoe factory in Northampton to the glamorous catwalks of Milan.
Charlie Price is struggling to live up to his father’s expectations and continue the family business of
Price & Sons. With the factory’s future hanging in the balance, help arrives in the unlikely but spec-
tacular form of Lola, a fabulous performer in need of some sturdy new stilettos. Kinky Boots opened
on Broadway in 2013, in London in 2014, and in Toronto in 2015. The show won six Tony Awards in
2013 including Best Musical, Best Score and Best Choreography, and three Olivier Awards in 2016 for
Best New Musical, Best Actor and Best Costume Design. This show is at Queen Elizabeth Theatre.
The Audience is playing at Stanley Theatre. From Winston Churchill to Margaret Thatcher, through
Tony Blair and right up to David Cameron, Queen Elizabeth has held a weekly meeting, or
“audience,” with each of her twelve prime ministers. Playwright Peter Morgan’s imaginary glimpses
into these tête-à-têtes provide a droll and fascinating portrayal of a lioness of history. Over the span
of six decades, the Queen transforms from an uncertain young monarch into the revered figure-
head of today. The Audience premiered in London in 2013, winning two Olivier Awards, and on
Broadway in 2015 where it garnered two Tony Awards.
THE KING AND I IN SEATTLE $1075 pp double $1330 single
January 30, 2017 — 4 days discounts up to $30 pp
Theatre is a great way to celebrate the full range of human emotion, and these two shows do that
—a love story that launched on Broadway in 1951 and a mystery that grew from a 1915 novel into a
comedy. The King and I was written and composed by Rodgers & Hammerstein, and ran for three
years on Broadway, starring Yul Brynner and Gertrude Lawrence. It was the 3rd longest running musi-
cal in Broadway history. It won three Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best Actress, and Best Featured
Actor. The London production was equally popular, followed by a 1956 movie, and numerous stage
revivals, most recently in 2015. Popular songs from the show include Getting to Know You, I Whistle a
Happy Tune, and Shall We Dance?
The 39 Steps is a juicy spy novel written in 1915 by John Buchan who served as Governor General of
Canada from 1935 to 1940. Alfred Hitchcock adapted it to a movie in 1935, then it was rewritten as
a play in 1995 and has won five theatrical awards. The play features 150 zany characters, all played
by a talented four-person cast and is packed with nonstop laughs, complete with an on-stage
plane crash, missing fingers, and some old-fashioned romance. This unforgettable play is pure enter-
tainment, with a riotous blend of virtuoso performances and wildly inventive stagecraft.

DISCOVER BRITISH COLUMBIA
SQUAMISH EAGLE WATCHING $920 pp double $1070 single
January 24, 2017 — 4 days discounts up to $50 pp
British Columbia has almost half of the world’s bald eagle population and Squamish, just 45 minutes
north of Vancouver, boasts the second highest bald eagle count in the world and one of the most
densely populated gatherings in North America. Annually over 3,000 eagles flock to the Squamish
and Cheakamus Rivers from Alaska and the Yukon, staying from mid-November to mid-February to
feed on the abundance of spawned chum salmon. The largest gathering was 3,766 eagles, count-
ed in January 1994 and coinciding with the four-year cycle of salmon spawning. Along with the ea-
gle migration come the avid bird watchers and hikers who walk along the banks of the river, enam-
ored with the powerful birds. One of the quietest and most interactive ways to view the eagles is
from the river. Using expedition-class river rafts, we float quietly down the Squamish River wearing
warm and cozy survival suits with boots.
Next day, we visit the George Reifel Migratory Bird Sanctuary, one of Vancouver’s premier birding
locations, which is home to thousands of birds each winter.
Early booking is recommended — this tour is limited to only 32 participants.

Wells Gray Park is a vast wilderness area, nicknamed Canada's "Waterfalls Park" and the "Volcanoes
Park". Early June is an excellent time to visit Wells Gray Park since the waterfalls are spectacular with
their spring run-off. The tour is escorted by Roland Neave, owner of Wells Gray Tours and Wells Gray
Gateway Guesthouse. Roland is also the author of the guidebook Exploring Wells Gray Park; the 6th
Edition was published in 2015 and a complimentary autographed copy of this 400-page all-colour
book is yours as a souvenir of this tour.
This tour is limited to 20 travellers. With a small group, the boats are able to take us up Clearwater
Lake, through the Clearwater River into Azure Lake, then to the beach at the east end of Azure Lake
to view Rainbow Falls. This extended boat tour is offered periodically.
Come and see the birthplace of Wells Gray Tours! There is a connection to the Park’s name, dating
back 44 years. An environmental organization offered tours of Wells Gray Park in 1972 as a means of
protesting BC Hydro’s plans to build seven dams. Roland and some university friends were volunteer
guides. From this modest beginning with a single tour route, Wells Gray Tours has evolved to offer
worldwide travel.
