LIFELONG SERVICE “I am going fishing.” What an announcement! If asked who made it, and not told it was a Bible quote, we might guess “Grandpa” or “Uncle Fred,” or admit, “I said that last summer!” But it is a Bible quote, from today’s Gospel. The person who said it also once declared, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Yes, it’s Peter! So today’s announcement seems quite the comedown. Last Sunday Jesus said, “As the Father has sent me, so I send you.” But Peter seems determined to return to his pre-apostolic occupation, until Jesus intervenes, making Peter’s later announcement deeper, “Lord, you know that I love you,” and Peter’s apostolic calling clearer, “Tend my sheep.” Peter does so. Acts presents the consequences: Peter declares, “We must obey God rather than men.” As Revelation proclaims, “Worthy is the Lamb”—to receive Peter’s lifelong service, and ours.

• “I WAS IN PRISON AND YOU CAME TO ME”...MATT. 25:31-46— Fr. John Farao OFM, Conv. Is the Chaplain at our local state prison in San Luis Obispo (California Men’s Colony). His ministry is dependent on volunteers to supervise and conduct various programs, religious instructions and devotions for the Catholic prisoners two to four times each month. Altar & Rosary Society—The regular meeting is on the 3rd Tuesday of the month. After prayer and Mass at 10:30 a.m., the usual luncheon and business meeting will follow in the Parish Hall. All are invited to attend and participate. NO meetings : June, July, August, December.
Choir Rehearsal--Choir Rehearsal is Wednesday at 7pm. Newcomers always welcome! Loca on: Choir Lo in church.

Rosary for Priests—The Rosary for Priests is prayed on Thursday afternoons from 3:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. in the family room in rear of church (parking lot side).

Protecting Our Children—On Wednesday from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m., only authorized individuals and personnel who have been cleared by the Diocese may be in the parish hall (parents or guardians may bring or pick up the children in the hall). NOBODY ELSE will be permitted ANYWHERE in the hall, including members of the Knights of Columbus, the Altar and Rosary Society and Martha’s Ministry or anyone else.

Day Breakfast—Join us as we honor the ladies in our lives
at the Mother’s Day Breakfast on Sunday May 12th after the 8:00 and 10:30 a.m. Masses. A delicious breakfast (pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, orange juice and beverage) for mothers, grandmothers, etc. will be served at no cost. Children up to 12 will be served breakfast for $3. For all others, the breakfast will cost $6.
• KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS—The
Knights will be hosting a Marian Prayer Program on Friday, May 10th at 6:30 PM in the Parish Hall. The 2018-2019 Marian Prayer Program presents the 18th Marian image sponsored by the Knights of Columbus, this time of Our Lady Help of Persecuted Christians. This year, the prayer service is intended to raise awareness of the plight of Christians persecuted for their faith and to stand in prayerful solidarity with them.
• MOTHER’S DAY NOVENA CARDS ARE AVAILABLE IN THE BACK OF CHURCH.
