8th Grade Science
Physical: Science skills, forces and motion, energy, waves
Space: Moon phases, seasons, solar system, stars, galaxies
Earth: Plate tectonics, earthquakes, volcanoes, layers of the earth
Grading
Grades will be determined through quizzes, tests, homework assignments, labs, classroom activities, and special projects.
Tests/quizzes: 40%
Labs: 30%
Graded assignments: 20%
Homework: 10%
Blue Team Rules
1. Be prepared to work every day
If you are late to class, you get an automatic detention unless you have a punch pass available.
2. Be respectful at all times
When working on something independently, silence is expected.
3. No food or drink is allowed in the classrooms

Homework
Homework will be given throughout the year for practice and extension of the curriculum.
Late Homework Policy:
Homework turned one day after due date or later will be eligible for half credit. Late homework will be accepted until the test/assessment has been given.
Materials
Please bring the following items with you EVERYDAY to science:
1. Planner2. Pen/pencil, grading pen, and
highlighter3. Binder (Tabs: Notes/Handouts, Labs,
Graded Papers)4. Loose leaf paper OR notebook
Learning Target
You will be able to find out the learning target for the day by reading the objective on the dry erase board at the front of the room.
Today we will understand the rules and expectations of 8th grade science by
having a class discussion.
Rueby BucksRueby Bucks are given as a reward for class participation, good behavior, and 100% on tests and quizzes.
Rueby BucksRueby Bucks should be saved throughout the quarter to purchase prizes at auctions at the end of each quarter.
