Formatting your bibliography

Page 8: 8 th Grade Health Project

Bibliography: Basic Formatting Rules

Label the page “Bibliography” (do not bold, italicize or underline the title) Center the title

Sources should be listed in alphabetical order by author’s last name If there is no author, the title of the article comes first.

Ask for help if you have more than one work by the same author.

Do NOT number, bullet, or letter the source list!

Double space everything on the page. There should be no extra spaces between sources.

Italicize the title of the source if it is a book, journal/magazine, or database.

Hanging Indent – indent the second line of the citation (tab every line after the first) Think of this as the opposite of paragraph indents.

Note that if you edit or change the format (like font size), the line may end in a different spot than before and you may have to reformat the hanging indent.
