RANI LAKSHMI BAIOriginally named Manikarnika and nicknamed Manu, she was born on 19 November 1827 at Kashi (Varanasi) .

Lakshmibai 1857 - 1858 Battles the British in IndiaLakshmibai, the rani (queen) of Jhānsi in central India, is drawn into the Sepoy Rebellion, a popular uprising against British rule in India. Skilled in the martial arts, Lakshmibai helps to lead the resistance. She died in battle in 1858 and be memorialized as a great Indian heroine.

Sarojini Naidu (1879-1949), Indian poet and prominent figure in the Indian independence struggle. Naidu was born into a Bengali Brahmin family in Hyderābād, India. With her father a scientist and her mother a poet

SAROJINI NAIDU

She has often been referred to as “Nightingale” of India because of her contribution in Literature. In the early 20th century, Sarojini Naidu emerged as a leading writer and political figure in India. She first campaigned for women’s rights and better conditions for workers, then became involved in the Indian nationalist movement, which sought to gain India’s independence from Britain.

In 1938 Gandhi joined the Indian National Congress, the political organization that was spearheading the fight for Indian independence from British rule.She became India’s 3rd prime minister in 1966 and held the position for a total of 15 years. During her political career, Gandhi was viewed by some as a beloved symbol of India .

Kalpana Chawla was born in Karnal, Haryana, India in July 1 ,1961 to Banarasi Lal Chawla and Sanjyothi. Her the nickname "Montu.”

Kalpana Chawla was a veteran of spaceflight, with more than 376 hours logged in space. As a mission specialist on Columbia's last flight, she helped conduct a multitude of scientific experiments. In addition to serving as an astronaut, the 41-year-old Chawla was an aerospace engineer and a flight instructor.

Kiran Bedi (Punjabi: ਕਿ�ਰਣ ਬੇ�ਦੀ�) (born 9 June 1949) is an Indian

social activist and a retired Indian Police Service (IPS)

officer. She became the first woman to join the IPS in 1972.

She held the post of Director General at the

Bureau of Police Research and Development

before she voluntary retired from the IPS in December

2007.

KIRAN BEDI

KIRAN BEDINavjyoti (which literally means New Enlightenment), set up in 1987 and India Vision Foundation, set up in 1994, are the two major voluntary organizations established by her with the objectives of improving the condition of drug addicts and poor people. Her efforts have won national and international recognition, and her organizations were awarded the "Serge Soitiroff Memorial Award" for drug abuse prevention by the United Nations.

Bachendri Pal was born into a family of very moderate means, in 1954, in a village named Nakuri in Uttarkashi District of Garhwal.

In 1984, India had scheduled its expedition, christened “Everest ‘84’”, to the Mount Everest. Bachendri was selected as one of the members of the elite group of six Indian women. Recalling her first glimpse of the M.T Everest, Bachendri once reminisced: “We the hill people have always worshipped the mountains … my overpowering emotion at this awe-inspiring spectacle was, therefore, devotional.”

Pratibha Devisingh Patil (born 19 December 1934) is the 12th and current President of the Republic of India and first woman to hold the office. She was sworn in as President of India on 25 July 2007, succeeding Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and after beating her rival Bhairon Singh Shekhawat.[1][2][3]

She is a member of the Indian National Congress (INC), was nominated for the presidency by the ruling United Progressive Alliance and Indian Left.

Jharkhand's Premlata Agarwal today became the oldest Indian woman to scale the Mount Everest at the age of 45.Premlata, who is being supported by Tata Steel, is also the first person from Jharkhand to go an expedition to the Mount Everest.

Fort five-year-old Premlata began her preparations to scale the world's tallest peak on May 6 when she went from the base camp at 18,000 feet to Camp2 at 22,000 feet.Then, with the help of artificial oxygen, she reached Camp 3 at 23,000 feet and Camp 4 at 26,000 feet.She caught some rest on Thursday before embarking on her arduous climb to the summit at 11 pm, and finally reaching there after nearly 11 hours.
