Amethyst was a favourite gemstone of high officials of the Christian Church. Drinking vessels were sometimes made of amethyst. Water or watered down wine served in these vessels looked like wine but without the intoxicating effects. Servants could serve water to already drunk guests who would not know the difference. Religious hosts would therefore be able to drink freely without getting drunk – thus it was also named the ‘Bishops Stone’. Still today, Bishops rings are made from Amethyst.

It was deemed to represent humility. It was also worn as an amulet to protect from harm during battle. Leonardo Da Vinci stated amethyst ‘was able to dissipate evil thoughts and quicken intelligence’. In Tibet, amethyst is sacred to Buddha, and is made into beaded jewellery. In traditional Chinese medicine, ground amethyst is prescribed for stomach pains and bad dreams. Purple being the royal colour, Amethyst is splashed throughout royal history. For instance the British crown jewels contain Amethyst, was also used by Catherine the Great and Egyptian Royalty. History The name olivine is from the Latin oliva in reference to the mineral's color. Peridot is from a thirteenth century English word peridote. Peridot has been mined as a gemstone for an estimated four thousand years and is mentioned in the Bible under the Hebrew name of pitdah. The high priest's breastplate, which is described in the Biblical book of Exodus, includes a stone for each of the twelve tribes of Israel, one being peridot. The Bible also tells of a jewel worn by King Esekiel from Exodus, an impressive peridot. Archaeologists have found valuable peridots in Alexandria, Egypt, which must have come from the original source, the island of Zebargad (zebargad being the Arabic word for peridot). It is located about 50 miles from the coast of Egypt in the Red Sea. Faceted stones have also been found in the ruins of ancient Greece from the same source. Ancient Egyptians called peridot "the gem of the sun," although they believed its seekers might not find it in sunlight. Because of their brightness in the desert sun, the stones were supposedly invisible by daylight. In darkness, however, they were alleged to give off a light of their own. By night, miners were said to mark their locations accordingly and return to recover their treasures by day. The Greeks and Romans referred to peridot as topazion and topazius respectively and this name was later given to topaz, to end the confusion with the two gems. Historical legend has it that peridot was the favorite gemstone of Cleopatra (probably confused with Emerald). Hawaiian natives believe peridot is the goddess Pele's tears. How to use

• Good for gridding, particularly heart chakra grids. • Jewellery • Elixir for tonic and cleansing effect.

Element: All

Chakra: All

Anniversary: All

Mohs Scale: 7

Chemical Comp: SiO2

System: Trigonal (hexagonal)

Source: All over the world

Rarity: Very common Energetics Quartz is a family of minerals with the same chemical composition - silicon dioxide (SiO2), and similar physical properties. Approximately 12 % of the earth's crust is quartz, which is also known as silica. Clear quartz is the most pure variety. Other varieties of macro-crystalline quartz (recognizable with the naked eye), include citrine, amethyst, aventurine, blue quartz, hawks-eye, tigers-eye, prasiloite, quartz cats eye, smokey, and rose quartz. Microscopically small crystal quartz (called crypto-crystalline quartz), generally known as chalcedony, includes agate, petrified wood, chrysoprase, bloodstone, jasper, carnelian, moss agate and sard. Quartz is unique in that its structure is a helical spiral, which means it can absorb, store focus and release energy. Holding a quartz crystal has been shown to increase your magnetic field (photographed with Kirlian photography).

Clear Quartz channels pure vibrations from source and hence brings our vibrations to their highest level, the Ketheric template. Clear quartz contains the full visible light spectrum and are conductors of lower and higher sound and light vibrations. Clear Quartz is a Master Healer and can be used for all conditions. Clear Quartz assists our communication with Masters, Healers and Teachers guiding our path and the evolution of our Earth. There are many specialized crystal formations available to us at this time on Earth (refer Section 3) to assist in a smooth transition into a new Age. Mental

History Historically this crystal has been used to counter black magic, to perform diagnostic healing, and to communicate with spirits and other worlds. Some say the origin of the word quartz is the Saxon word "querkluftertz", meaning "a cross vein ore," which later was condensed to "querertz." Other possibilities include it was named after a Slavic word for "hard" or from the German word ‘quartz’ (of uncertain origin) or was named after the Greek word for "Ice". The Greeks believed that rock crystal was eternally frozen ie fossilized ice. Scientists believed this as late as the 16th century In History Roman ladies carried quartz crystal balls to cool their hands in warm weather and Roman soldiers used it to capture sunlight for cauterizing wounds. It has been said that the huge stones used in the building of Solomon's temple were somehow levitated by the use of quartz crystal. The stones used in building the pyramids were somehow levitated by focusing the mind mental energy through quartz crystals. The Chinese Emperor Wu built marvelous buildings to honor the gods and all the doors of the buildings were made of quartz crystal so that a flood of light poured into the interior.

In Japan the smaller quartz crystals were thought to be the congealed breath of the white dragon. The larger crystals were said to be the saliva of the violet dragon. Generator crystals are said to have provided all the electrical power, communications, heat, light and transportation for whole cities in the dead days of Atlantis and Lemuria. Priests and priestesses in those ancient civilizations would draw down fire from heaven to light alter fires by focusing sunlight through quartz crystals. Since the middle ages quartz crystal balls have been used to predict the future. But, in the tomb of Childeric, dating back to 481 A.D, a quartz crystal sphere was found. A number of crystal balls have been found in a number of ancient tombs. Crystal balls were also placed in tombs of all the kings of France. American Indian Shamans used quartz crystals as divining and hunting charms believing that they were inhabited by spirits, who had to be fed periodically by rubbing the quartz crystals with deer's blood. How to use

25. Black Quartz Summary Characteristics Other Names: N/A (note: this is not smokey quartz as it is not transparent)

Colour: Black

Appearance: Non-transparent, often pyramidal carvings, elestiated.

Astrology: N/A

Ruling Planet: N/A

Numerology: 6

Ray: All

Element: All

Chakra: All

Anniversary: N/A

Mohs Scale: 7

Chemical Comp: SiO2

System: Trigonal (hexagonal)

Source: World wide

Rarity: Uncommon Energetics The characteristic color of smoky quartz occurs in nature when rock crystal quartz is exposed to natural radiation from radioactive elements or adjacent radioactive rocks over long periods of time. The process by which this occurs is not completely understood, although it is known that exposure of transparent quartz to radiation can alter the oxidation states of impurities in the quartz structure resulting in the characteristic colors of smoky to black quartz. These crystals are a gift from celestial beings and are being maintained by the Inner Earth People for our use at this time. These crystals are perfectly balanced combining the energies of Light and Dark, Yin and Yang….there is no duality only the One Energy.

• Balancer – stabilises the crystalline matrix for healing. • Absorbs negative vibrations and Earths them. • Fills the body with the full spectrum of light and colour vibrations. • Opens & stabilises the Soul Star and Earth Star – strong anchor points (CLH II &

III). History Before the fall of Lemuria, many souls returned to their celestial origins whilst others chose to enter into the Earth and maintain the crystals for future generations and our procession in the Grand Cycle (26,000 years). Lemurian High Priest and Priestesses programmed Black Quartz with the Light Codes of Ascension. To ensure this information remained safe, the quartz was coloured black to detract ‘viewing’ its contents. These are powerful crystals, and their information must only be used for the highest good. If you are attracted to these, it is because you are a healer from this time, and feel a sense of ‘home’ in their presence. How to use

• Place within the home, office or healing room for clearing and protecting. • Soul and Earth Star gridding for healing work. • Meditate or sleep with to access information from the ancients.
