What was one questionor comment that youreceived as a PrincessKay nalist from aconsumer regarding thedairy industry? How didyou address the questionand educate them aboutMinnesotas dairyindustry? The question Iwas asked is, How do Iknow that our milk has no
antibiotics in it? I answered by saying treated cows are milked separately fromthe rest of the herd and the milk is then discarded. This is one of the many waysdairy farmers make sure any milk that may contain antibiotics does not enter theretail milk supply. In the 48 hours that the milk leaves our farm to the time itarrives in your local store, it has gone through 17 safety and quality checks toensure the milk you drink is safe. What skills do you possess that would make you a great Princess Kay? I havealways loved talking with people. Throughout my life, I have immersed myself invarious communication and leadership positions, such as acting as an FFA of cer, serving on agricultural youth boards to 4-H, being a member of speech team andserving on the student council. From these experiences, I have acquired skillsin written and oral communication, including facilitating group discussions andgiving presentations. My strongest communication skill is listening with respectto what people have to say and sharing information that is relevant to them. Mypassion and dedication to serving dairy farmers and the dairy community areadditional strengths I possess. Being able to effectively communicate with peopleand share my passion about the dairy community is the perfect combination. Tell us about a favorite dairy animal on the farm. On my familys dairy farm, our herd consists primarily of Holsteins, but we also have a very special BrownSwiss. This cow, Lola, is now a permanent member of our fresh cow pen. Lola is apersonable and friendly cow. She waits by the gate every morning and night whileI feed our calves, waiting for me to give her a big hug. She has two daughters whoare just like her, Mocha and Charlotte.Parents: Why would your daughter make a good Princess Kay? Maggie has a natural ability to see the good in everyone. She embraces people in general and seeks out opportunities to serve others. Maggie wholeheartedly believes in giving back to the dairy community that has done so much for her. She was raised and works on a dairy farm, and understands rsthand the commitment and dedication it takes to operate a dairy farm. Maggies passion to connect with people by sharing her dairy stories is something Maggie will continue to do throughout her life.

What was one question or comment that you received as a Princess Kay nalist from a consumer regarding the dairy industry? How did you address the question and educate them about Minnesotas dairy industry? One question commonly asked is, Does
chocolate milk come from brown cows? I inform the consumer that, no, chocolate milk does not come from brown cows. It is important to inform them of the bene ts of drinking chocolate milk. Chocolate milk has the same nine essential nutrients as white milk and is a great refueling beverage after a workout. It has the perfect mixture of protein and carbohydrates to replenish exhausted muscles. What skills do you possess that would make you a great Princess Kay? I believe that my ability to connect with all kinds of people is a great skill that Princess Kay can have. I try my best to follow the motto, seek rst to understand. It is important to understand why people think the way that they do. I also believe that my skills in communication are a great t for Princess Kay. Through FFA and 4-H, I have had some great public speaking and communication training. I am con dent in my ability to speak in front of large groups of people or have a one-on-one conversation. Tell us about a favorite dairy animal on the farm. When I was little, my favorite cow was No. 27. When I was little, I was not very creative so instead of a name, I just called her No. 27. I had the amazing opportunity to watch her be born and then grow up to be a high-producing milk cow that provided people with wholesome, nutritious milk. I remember going out to the barn every day just to see what my favorite cow was up to. She was a great cow that helped support our family farm. Parents: Why would your daughter make a good Princess Kay? Kyla would be a great Princess Kay because of her passion for dairy. She truly knows how to connect with everyone she comes in contact with. Her caring personality allows her to understand where other peoples views are coming from. Kyla is also a great communicator. She has spent a lot of time advocating for dairy and agriculture as a whole. She has always been one to set her goals high and work hard to achieve them.
