The principle of a bridge in this location is already approved. The purpose of this planning application is to agree the design and exact siting of the bridge. Previous proposals for the bridge (referred to as the ‘Mobius Bridge’) have been revised in terms of its form and its route. The primary rationale for these changes is to maximise accessibility for all. The proposed route for the bridge provides level access across the Floating Harbour.

The bridge has a navigable width of 20m and headroom clearance of 4.2m (to match the nearby Bristol Bridge) in accordance with theHarbourmasters requirements.
