Leda stainless steel bollards are normally manufactured from Grade 304. Grade 316 is available if specified. Electro-polishing minimises the possibility of ‘tea staining’ and is recommended for corrosive or saltwater locations.

Leda Retractable Bollards hold distinct advantages over boom gates and other forms of vehicular access control as they provide much higher impact ratings and are pedestrian friendly.

Leda recommend that active vehicle lanes have a minimum of 2 bollards per lane to assist larger vehicles transiting the area and reduce the possibility of accidental damage. For busy access points, fixed bollards can be fitted with optional traffic lights.

Pneumatic models: 240V AC, 10A, or 3-phase 415V.To protect against power outages, high security installations may require connection to an uninterrupted power supply (UPS).

Programmable Control Board (PCB) or Programmable Logical Controller (PLC), located in the control cabinet, is essential for all functions and allows the flexibility to customise bollard operational requirements to suit each installation. Operation functions can be interfaced with the building management or access control system.

Control Cabinets can be located internally in a secure room or externally in a secure weather-resistant enclosure.

Retractable Bollards normally require a 1.6m deep excavation. Security applications may require that the bollards be installed in a continuous concrete strip footing. Leda engineers can assist in the structural design of appropriate footings. For further general information on installation refer to the Installation section.

Installation of retractable bollards can involve individual or multiple units, and the application may range from access control or high security.

Acces s con t ro l app l i c a t i ons

• For individual installations or where security is not an issue, the easiest method of installing the bollards is through simple excavation using a mechanised posthole auger.

• Bollards can be inserted into the hole, extended and ‘plumbed’ for alignment.

• Steel cage reinforcement is added and the hole back-filled with 30MPa concrete.

• For security applications, the footings need to be specified to meet the impact resistance and performance required by the bollards.

• Leda’s engineering division can assist through all phases to ensure that security specifications are complied with.

• Leda’s electrical engineers will also prepare specifications regarding the control, UPS back-up and surge protection for the installation.

When considering installing retractable bollards, it is advisable to contact your Leda

sales office to ensure the selection of the appropriate product. Experienced Leda staff can assist in helping you through the multiple

operation and technical issues.

Leda design staff will also prepare the necessary working drawing and the recommended operation manuals.

Retractable bollards and compressors / power packs need to be cleaned and serviced

at recommended intervals (depending on usage) to ensure trouble-free operation. It is extremely important that clean, dry air is

maintained. Leda’s technical staff will assist in developing the correct maintenance program

for your equipment.
