COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT The Steinbach & Area Garden Club has adopted the gardens of the Mennonite Heritage Village as its Community Project, involving the participation of many volunteer club members throughout the gardening season. The Club, in return, receives access to the facility for meetings and the volunteers receive annual passes to the Village. STEINBACH & AREA GARDEN CLUB MEETINGSSAGC meetings are held at the Mennonite Heritage Village usually on the second Monday of each month at 7:00 pm. Public is welcome to attend most meetings. Non-member fee $5.00. Refreshments served.

February 23rd, 2 pm at Keystone Cinema, “Five Seasons: The Gardens of Piet Oudolf” A documentary about the new perennial movement with bonus feature- a visual tour of Butchart Gardens.

March 21st, 7 pm at Cwatchornart Studio, “Paint the Night Away.” Create a botanically themed masterpiece! Led by Colleen Watchorn, artist/educator. No experience, no problem!

May 11th, 10 am at MHV during Manitoba Day Celebrations, “Plant Pansies for Mom.” SAGC members teach children to transplant pansies to be taken home as a Mother’s Day gift.

May 13th, 6 pm at MHV, Volunteer Orientation Session. Seasoned volunteers review all you need to know to tend the HMV gardens this summer.

September 2nd, 2 pm at MHV during ‘Fall on the Farm’, “Seed Saving Tips” and “How to Prepare Your Garden for Winter”. A Master Gardener demonstrates seasonal tasks for the next growing season.

November 25th, 6:30 pm at Sunshine Nursery, “A Green Christmas”. Create an artistic piece using natural materials. Led by Janet Blatz, Master Gardener-in-training and seasoned grower.

*Additional workshops may be offered throughout the year, details will be provided at general meetings, on the website, and in the monthly newsletter.
