Largely driven by the popularity of games consoles , thenstalled base of connected devices has grown over 600% in

our years. But Informa expects that in the next four years

connected TVs will replace games consoles as the most

popular connected device in the home.

The PC no longer has a monopoly on how users access the Internet.

As the means by which users can access content increases,

the connected home should be seen as only the first step

toward offering a truly multiscreen service.

Informa expects that by 2015, more than 350 million users will

be viewing OTT video on the TV via their connected devices.

This growth will be driven by three factors: penetration of

connected devices, availability of premium content and

    awareness of services.

OTT video viewed on the TV is expected to increase exponen-

tially. But Informa believes that many OTT-video-to-the-TV users

will treat it as an additive to existing TV services rather than a

    direct substitute.
