Preparation: -

Make double sided photocopies of the worksheet below for pairs/groups of students. (Note: the worksheet can also be downloaded from: http://www.go4english.com/media_file/cms/2005-06-07/11181457045.doc )

Stage Procedure

Introduction

1. Ask the students how many wonders of the ancient world they can remember. Elicit their ideas and write them up on the board.

2. Tell the students that they are going to learn about the ancient wonders today.

Read & Answer

1. Hand out the worksheet to pairs/groups of students.

2. Tell them to read the information and then discuss and answer the questions that follow. Set a 5 minute time limit.

3. Check answers as a whole class by reading out the questions and nominating students to answer. (Note: this is probably best done for points – especially if the students have worked in groups).
