Hey there, Key Clubbers!

This is the start of a new year, so if you notice any changes in our newsletter, that is because 2014 is the year of improvements. I am really excited to announce that we are planning to send four schools to the District Convention this year! I cannot wait to see all your gleaming faces, but before DCON there are many things we have to plan. Mainly, we need to get the Spirit Stick decorated in time for the convention!

Our January Divisional Council Meeting will be coming up in a few weeks, and we are going to need all hands on deck for this date. We are going to buy art supplies at Pacific Fabrics and Crafts and then hang out together as we all head to a nearby restaurant before the real work begins! More information will be sent to Key Club officers as we get closer to our projected date, but plan to leave your third and fourth weekends of January free!

Have you thought up of New Year’s Resolution yet? If you haven’t, maybe you are thinking, Gee, I really could help and serve in my community more often, or, I want to plan at least one Service Project this year to see that I can accomplish something amazing if I put my mind to it! Resolutions are wonderful opportunities to try something new or different, or to just remain consistent in your daily actions. Trying something new and different in Key Club is always encouraged! If you are a regular member, try and see if there is any way you can help out your officers by suggesting ideas, maybe for a Service Project or a membership recruitment event. Or maybe you can remain consistent by going to a Key Club event every week. Officer Elections are in February, so maybe you could step up to the plate and take some leadership roles. Whatever the challenge, a new year is full of possibilities! I hope to see you all soon!

Our Divisional Council Meeting will be held in three places: Pacific Fabrics and Crafts (838 NE Northgate Way Seattle, WA 98125), Taco Del Mar (11016 8th Ave NE Seattle, WA 98125) and either my house (519 N 64th St Seattle WA 98103) or Northgate Community Center (10548 5th Avenue Northeast Seattle, WA 98125). As you can tell, this meeting will be more of an outing, but it will take quite a long time. The date is still TBA, but this will take around three to four hours to complete, so please carve out some time so that we can finish all Spirit Stick decorations on that day! It is highly recommended that all officers attend this event, so if you have a conflict you need to tell me beforehand. All other members are encouraged to come as well. If you can drive, plan on driving some members. Otherwise, we will be taking public transport to and from places. We will also be discussing details of DCON, so I really need at least one representative from each school at the meeting!! I hope to see you there!

Here are all the files from the Call to Convention! Please read through them if you are interested in awards/other information. Section A is required to read for all presidents, because there is crucial information inside. All DCON Registration Information can be found by clicking the link below: http://pnwkeyclub.weebly.com/registration.html Important things to remember: • Hotel Registration costs $82.50 each IF YOU CAN FIT

FOUR IN A ROOM • Convention Registration costs $150 • Hotel Registration Deadline (Including all the rooming

arrangements) is February 14th • Convention Registration Deadline is March 4 • Tom Saunder’s Zip Code is 98383, make sure you have

the right one!

We are arranging our own rooms this year. Key Club Presidents, after you have figured out how many people are going to DCON, we need to convene for a President’s Council Meeting (PCM) and discuss how we are going to fit rooms together so we do not have to pay more than $82.50 a person. Plan to meet on Saturday, February 1st at my house (519 N 64th St Seattle WA 98103) to plan this thoroughly.

Note: All advisors/chaperone’s rooms need to be planned

as well.

Key Clubbers! Our Red Panda Divisional T-Shirts are finally here! They will cost $10.75 per person if fifty are ordered. The price does decrease when the order quantity increases, however. Officers, I need to know the number of T-Shirts you would like to order, with sizes, by Wednesday, January 22nd! As soon as I know the actual price I will make a post on the Facebook Group (http://facebook.com/groups/division2224) to let all of you know! Let’s show our Red Panda Pride by wearing these whenever we are serving in our communities!

The Eliminate Project is our Key Club District Project for 2013/2014. Through Unicef’s aid, we are striving for a better tomorrow by eliminating maternal and neonatal tetanus from the world. Soon, babies and mothers in developing countries will not have to suffer when women go into birthing procedure.

So far, Division 22/24 has raised over $500 alone to the Eliminate Project. As the year goes on, please remember to keep this project at the forefront of all your fundraising and service project planning. Together we can eradicate MNT from the face of the earth!

Originally founded by Franklin Delano Roosevelt to combat polio, The March of Dimes Foundation now focuses on the health issues/needs of pregnant women and infants. Created in 1938, the United States non-profit organization’s current mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.

Key Clubs have been raising funds to support March of Dimes since 1978. Many clubs raise awareness hosting programs at their schools for Premature Birth Awareness Month in November. The March of Dimes’ largest fundraiser of the year is March for Babies. You can sign your club up at marchforbabies.org/Kiwanis.
