    SUMMARY

    City Boards and Commissions perform a valuable service to the City

    by

    providing means by which the

    City Council can obtain advice opinions and recommendations of City residents and other members of

    the community.

    For this cycle of appointments or reappointments  the City Council has been presented with a total of

    seven scheduled Board and Commission vacancies with terms ending September 30 2015. The

    deadline for applicants for Boards and Commission vacancies

    was

    extended to September 18 2015.

    and

    Vice

    Mayor

    Talmage interviewed applicants for Board and Commission

    appointments or reappointments. t the September 1 2015 Regular Council Meeting they appointed

    members to fill the vacancies on the Forest and Beach Commission and the Historic Resources Board.

    Their

    recommendation for the Harrison Memorial Library Board of Trustees is

    to

    re-appoint Richard

    Flower and Martha Mosher and for the Planning Commission is to re-appoint Keith Paterson.

    There was a lack in applications for the Community Activities and Cultural Commission.

    The Mayor

    and

    Vice Mayor have recommended re-opening the acceptance period for applications for the Community

    Activities and Cultural Commission through Friday October 23 2015.

    on

    the

    Board of Trustees of

    he

    Ifarrison Memorial Library. 1have thoroughly enjoyed my service on that Board

    and

    believe I have made

    some

    useful contribut ions during my first tenn. I currently

    serve

    as president

    The six

    years

    had spent volunteering in

    the

    Library's Local History Department

    formed a helpful background

    when

    I joined

    the

    Board. Nevertheless, in subsequent

    years I have learned a

    great

    deal

    about the

    Librarys many services, its

    organizational structure, and its economics. Above all I have gained a profound

    respect

    for the Library Director and its talented staff. My participation, during my

    t

    erm

    as president, as liaison

    between

    the Trustees and the Carmel Public Library

    Foundation Board and

    staffhas

    also been rewarding.

    Because of

    my

    special interest in

    the

    Local History Department, I am particularly

    interested

    in the

    Li

    brary's participation in Ca rmel's centennial

    year

    celebration and

    would like to

    be

    part of that effort. would also like

    to

    continue to participate in the

    reimagining

    of the

    Library's facilities

    that

    is enabled by a substantial bequest.

    My

    first

    term

    on the Board of Trustees

    has

    provided a

    host

    of learning experiences.

    to serve a second term as a trustee.
